Platform & Data Engineer

The Last9 Platform and Data Engineering team is responsible for creating and running the Telemetry Data Platform and enabling other teams to release.

Along with this, the team is tasked with some forward-looking features that increase the performance and reliability of the system, thus contributing to the overall product.

Responsibilities:

• You will create and operate massively scaled TSDB and columnar storage databases that ingest millions of observability events per minute.
• You will work on features like storage tiering, archival, deployment for cloud customers, and maintaining and developing our SAAS offering in different regions.
• As our Glassbox is being built, there are also many tasks on which you closely collaborate with our Platform and Product team.
• Improve the robustness of the Telemetry Data Platform by contributing to stress and performance engineering on the TDP.
• You serve as a knowledge resource for the support team, helping to debug the most advanced issues encountered by customers.
• You will also be responsible for resolving issues, reviewing and finishing PRs, and answering questions from email, chats, Slack, etc., raised by Platform, Customer Success, and Product teams.

Requirements:

• You have 3-5 years of experience as an SRE/backend/data engineer or have a solid development background.
• You are firmly grounded in computer science and engineering fundamentals, including concurrency, multithreading, data structures, solution design, architecture, and design patterns.
• Proficient in leveraging modern AI tools and staying current with advancements in AI technologies; however, you are not dependent on them.
• You bring along solid professional experience with tools.
• Strong hands on Python or Go programming.
• Great fundamentals of SDLC.
• Hands-on with AWS or GCP.
• Good knowledge of the Linux operating system
• Knowledge of Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience in Kubernetes / EKS / GKE and Git / GitHub Actions.
• Optional: You are fluent with Prometheus, PromQL, and other relevant time series databases.
• You are a strong problem solver and have solid production debugging skills.
• You communicate well with others and can work well within and across engineering teams.
• Fluent in English.
