Sr. Software Engineer (Golang)

As Software Systems scale out of control. Observing them and catching failures before it brings the whole system down is of utmost importance. Every large software company has tried to get by hacking together their own solutions. We at Last9 are building THE tool to do this right.

Responsibilities:

• Work with massively scaled TSDB and columnar storage databases, which ingest millions of observability events per min, developing features to use it, optimize, develop, and maintain the ETL pipeline.
• Work on features like storage tiering, archival, deployment for cloud customers, and maintaining and developing our SAAS offering in different regions.
• Develop and maintain the data plane, ETL pipeline, and backend services.
• Develop solutions you've designed from the ground up through from conception to deployment into production.
• Provide solutions to improve current performance and remove bottlenecks within the application and broader infrastructure. Build awesome things in general.
• Participate in design meetings, code reviews, mentoring new starters, and technical interviews, and contribute to growing the team.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of software development experience in Go.
• Has demonstrated experience in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
• Has firmly grounded computer science and engineering fundamentals, including concurrency, multithreading, data structures, solution design, architecture, data modelling, and design patterns.
• Proficient in leveraging modern AI tools and staying current with advancements in AI technologies; however, you are not dependent on them.
• Possesses strong analytical skills with excellent problem-solving abilities and demonstrates proven technical leadership in the face of ambiguity.
• Has a strong sense of ownership and integrity demonstrated through clear communication and collaboration.

Bonus points if they:

• Have an understanding of observability (monitoring, logging, and tracing) and databases.
• Are aware of industry trends (technology, methods, and tooling).
• Have mentored other software developers in all aspects of their engineering skill sets.
• Possess knowledge of data processing frameworks (like Pandas, Spark, Dask, Flink, etc. ) or data analytical frameworks (like Kudu, Druid, etc. ).
