Founded by Sriram “Sri” Somasundaram and Rishabh Jain, Latent has raised $80 million from Transformation Capital, Spark Capital, Conviction, General Catalyst, Y Combinator, and others.\nThe Role\nLatent builds clinical intelligence that helps health systems run complex pharmacy operations, giving patient access to the medications they need, and helping care teams focus on serving patients.\nThe work spans healthcare workflows, enterprise software, and applied AI. Engineers work closely with Product and customer-facing teams to understand the problem, build the solution, and own the outcome in production.\nWe are hiring our first Engineering Manager. You will lead a portfolio of product engineering teams, working towards accelerating medication access for patients. Each team has a clear area of ownership and an Engineering Lead. Because you are the first person in this role, you will help define what engineering management looks like at Latent rather than run an established playbook.\nYour job is to help those teams work effectively. You will mentor and support Leads, hire and develop engineers, and keep teams aligned with company priorities. You will also work directly with Product and business leaders on strategy, prioritization, and execution.\nWhat You'll Do\nLead multiple product engineering teams across product areas\n\nCoach Leads on technical direction, execution, communication, and team development\n\nHire engineers and help each person improve through clear expectations and regular feedback\n\nWork with Product and business leaders to set directions and team priorities\n\nDefine technical strategies and roadmaps\n\nDefine and improve engineering management practices as the organization grows\n\nWhat We're Looking For\nYou have experience managing multiple engineering teams, leading through experienced technical leads or other managers\n\nYou truly care about building teams, and helping each person on the team grow their career and impact\n\nYou have made difficult performance and organizational decisions with care and clarity\n\nYou have partnered closely with Product and with stakeholders outside engineering to deliver business outcomes\n\nYou have worked in a domain with complex requirements, multiple stakeholders, or significant operational constraints\n\nYou were a staff-level (or comparably senior) engineer before moving into management, and you can still go deep on architecture and tradeoffs with senior engineers\n\nYou communicate cogently\n\nYou know how to add structure without adding process for its own sake\nHow we work\nOur teams are small by design. Engineers are expected to understand the customer problem, own their decisions, and follow their work through to deliver business outcomes. Leads handle much of the daily technical direction and leadership. Engineering Managers focus on team quality, coaching, staffing, performance, and alignment across teams.\n\nThis role will suit someone who likes to stay engaged with the substance of the work, and is comfortable making decisions through ambiguity. AI is changing what a small team of strong engineers can build, and we are designing the engineering organization around that. If you are looking for an established playbook to run, this is not the role.
