The Host/Hostess guides the guest through the ordering and payment procedures, exceeding their expectations through exceptional food knowledge and hospitality. The Host/Hostess solves small problems as they arise and keeps people as happy as possible and handles all requests in a positive manner. Host/Hostesses must be thoroughly familiar with Lawry's appearance standards, guest interaction procedures, table duties, side work and safety procedures, and the overall operation of our kitchen and dining room.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nConsistently and sufficiently meet Lawry's standards as an ambassador of the restaurant with our guests, including inspiring the \"WOW Factor\" level of service, providing and exuding quality, professionalism, positive guest relations, and first-class entertainment and performance.\nComply with all of Lawry's employment-related policies and procedures; including accurate records of hours worked, breaks, and tip income in TMX, communication of shift changes, tardiness, or absence; and behavior consistent with the company's desire to maintain a workplace free of incidents of co-worker harassment, discrimination, drug, or alcohol abuse.\n\nParticipate with assigned co-workers in the timely introduction of guests, description of food and beverage selections, verification of meal satisfaction, any resolution of guest issues, and assistance with guests' readiness to depart the restaurant.\n\nGreet and accommodate individual and special needs of guests along with Carver and Dining Room Server in a confident, well-spoken, and succinct manner, while following Lawry's standard operating procedures for delivery of the finest dining and entertainment experience to our guests.\n\nRespects and maintains Company property and assets.\n\nAdheres to Lawry’s Prime Rib uniform and appearance standards.\n\nDemonstrates safe work habits.\n\nMaintains a safe workplace by keeping entrance and foyer areas clean and free of debris and hazards.\n\nFollow approved food handling and sanitation procedures to ensure the safety of guests and co-workers.\n\nChecks and stocks the front desk regularly with all necessary supplies.\n\nFollows Company procedure on cash handling, verifying, and balancing.\n\nAnswers the telephone according to Company procedure, in a courteous and cheerful manner.\n\nTakes telephone and fax orders and cancellations efficiently and completely.\n\nGreets guests with courtesy, warmth, and friendliness.\n\nChecking coats upon request.\n\nSeats guests and says goodbye when they depart.\n\nTransfers running bar tabs from lounge area and hands the transfer check to the Dining Room Server.\n\nProvides expedient take-out service.\n\nCollects cash and credit card payments from guests, makes change for cash transactions and obtains signatures for credit card purchases.\n\nBalances cash drawer by counting cash at beginning and end of work shift.\n\nSupports the VIP Rewards program.\n\nChecks, cleans and restocks restroom every half-hour, or as needed\n\nExpress and exchange ideas in spoken and written English in an average manner both with co­ workers and guests, including writing orders, requests, reservations, or instructions.\n\nDemonstrate knowledge of Lawry's Restaurants, including family history, locations, service and meal hours, and frequent diner benefits.\n\nDemonstrate knowledge of the menu items to assist guests in their wine, meal, and dessert selections, using informed, tantalizing descriptions and effective selling techniques.\n\nDemonstrate effective teamwork and cooperation with co-workers, management, vendors and/or suppliers.\n\nDemonstrate competency in POS and TMX computer systems and basic math calculations.\n\nBe dressed in a clean uniform and acceptable footwear, ready to begin at start of all scheduled shifts, and work until the end of scheduled shifts, unless authorized by management for approved shift or work schedule change.\n\nPerform other competencies and duties as assigned, such as properly clean and maintain assigned Dining Room, Bar and restaurant areas, or administrative projects.\n\nNotifies Manager on duty immediately if a guest experiences a problem of any kind.\n\nAttend all mandatory co-worker meetings, training, informational and education sessions.\n\nReports all damaged or malfunctioning fixtures and equipment to the Manager on duty promptly.\n\nReports all accidents or unsafe conditions to the Manager on duty immediately.\n\nPOSITION QUALIFICATIONS\nShows confidence, energy, and enthusiasm with a professional, clean appearance, and a friendly, helpful, approachable demeanor.\n\nLegal age to serve alcoholic beverages.\n\nSatisfactory physical and mental health to perform the requirements of the job, and to work with the public in compliance with applicable food service health and safety regulations.\n\nAble to perform the essential functions of the assigned position with or without reasonable accommodation, and within company policy.\n\nAble to stand and walk for up to eight (8) hours during a shift (with limited breaks); carry up to 30 lbs. without assistance; exert up to 50 lbs. of force without straining; and sustain repetitive motions of legs, feet, waist, back, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, and fingers.\n\nAble to raise objects from a lower to a higher position or move objects horizontally from position to position.\n\nBe available and willing to work all scheduled shifts within the priority scheduling and seniority systems as established at each location, including working weekends and holidays.\n\nBasic knowledge of wines, vintages, and wine pairings, as well as proper handling and storage of wines, and use of bottle opener (i.e. cork-screw and foil-cutter).\n\nBasic knowledge of beers, spirits, and cocktails.\n\nCapable of multi-tasking, leading, and communicating with others, able to express and exchange ideas in spoken and written English in an average manner.\n\nCapable of establishing rapport in conversational English that is consistent with our fine dining atmosphere. This includes the ability to communicate at a sophisticated and mature conversational level, exhibit poise and comfort tableside with our guests, and understand the nuances of conversational English.\n\nBasic math proficiency.\n\nAble to wear required uniform.\n\nMust have reliable transportation.\n\nExperience:\nAt least one (1) year of restaurant service experience in a high volume establishment is required.\n\nLicenses/Certifications:\nCurrent Local/State Food Handler’s Training Certifications as required\n\nCurrent Local/State Alcohol Beverage Service Training Certifications as required\n\nComputer Skills: Basic familiarity with computers, POS systems, calculators, and touch screens.\nEducation: High school diploma or GED preferred.
