We partner with forward-thinking brands and agencies to design and implement custom storefronts, headless architectures, and robust backend integrations. From theme development to complex ERP and OMS workflows, our engineers bring deep expertise in Shopify, modern frameworks, and commerce infrastructure to help clients launch, scale, and optimize their digital retail experiences.\nJob Summary\nLazer is seeking Technical Lead to lead the development of Shopify projects, crafting seamless user experiences and robust back-end solutions. As a Technical Lead on this team, you will support Lazer’s engineers in building products across our entire portfolio of clients and across every part of the Shopify stack (online, POS, etc.). You will work closely with key clients stakeholders, lead 2-3 projects, and have tremendous impact in supporting the engineers on the team to make sure execution is solid. You will also be a part of the strongest Shopify-focused engineering team in the market, and work closely with like-minded engineers who help each other continuously grow.\nThe Role\nLead 2-3 large commerce projects and work with the engineers on the team to ensure delivery excellence\n\nLead large commerce implementations from one commerce platforms onto Shopify (e.g. BigCommerce, Salesforce, Magento, WooCommerce migrations)\n\nLead ERP integrations (e.g. Netsuite), including familiarity with iPaaS solutions for such integrations\n\nLead CMS integrations (e.g. Sanity, Contentful, etc)\n\nUnderstanding of the different components of the Shopify ecosystem (e.g. markets, checkout extensibility, functions, analytics, mobile, testing, etc)\n\nDeep background in software and system architecture\n\nOversee Headless frontend development (e.g. React, Hydrogen, Next.js, Remix)\n\nOversee backend development (e.g. Node JS, Python, Go or Ruby preferred)\n\nKnowledge of Liquid/Theme development\n\nLead OMS/WMS/IMS integrations (e.g. Manhattan)\n\nShopify app store development (i.e. building and launching apps privately for merchants or publicly on the Shopify App Store)\n\nSubscriptions (e.g. Recharge, Ordergroove, Upscribe, or Shopify’s Native Subscriptions API)\n\nEnsure flawless integration of third-party apps, APIs, and customizations.\n\nFurther Qualifications\nProblem-solving: Ability to jump into a project/product with little context and high ambiguity and identify issues, investigate causes, and propose solutions proactively.\n\nDecision-making: Confidence to make informed decisions and take action when appropriate.\n\nCommunication: Skill in keeping key client stakeholders, and team members informed about problems and solutions.\n\nConsulting: Ability to consult and help clients through navigate complex technical problems and decision making.\n\nLeadership: Guide the team in best practices, set clear goals and priorities, foster collaboration.\n\nTeam Orientation: Awareness of team dynamics and ability to collaborate closely across departments to implement high-impact features.\n\nAdaptability: Willingness to take on various roles and responsibilities as needed in a fast-paced startup environment.\n\nJudgment: Ability to assess situations and determine when to act independently versus when to seek guidance or collaborate.\n\nContinuous Learning: Eagerness to learn from mistakes and improve decision-making skills over time in yourself and for the project team.\n\nResilience: Capacity to handle occasional setbacks or mistakes positively and learn from them.\n\nProactivity: Tendency to anticipate needs and take action before being asked.\n\nAI in our hiring process\nWe use AI to help us review and shortlist applications based on job-related criteria.
