We are adding a Staff-level engineer to provide technical leadership across multiple projects and engineering teams within our Dealer Solutions organization.\nOur Dealer Solutions products help businesses in the flooring industry manage their operations and serve their customers. These are business-critical applications with complex workflows, demanding reliability requirements, and significant opportunities for technical innovation.\nAs a Staff Software Developer, you will help shape the architecture and technical direction of these products, tackle complex engineering challenges, and guide teams in building scalable, maintainable solutions. You will work across multiple technologies and systems, balancing long-term architectural decisions with the practical needs of delivering value to customers.\nThis is a hands-on technical leadership role, not a people management position. Deep expertise in every part of our stack is not required.\nWhat you'll do\nProvide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams, shaping architecture, technical direction, and engineering practices.\nDesign and evolve complex software systems, balancing scalability, reliability, maintainability, and business requirements.\nLead significant cross-team technical initiatives from initial design through successful delivery, remaining hands-on where your expertise adds the most value.\nAnticipate future technical needs, identify foundational investments, and break complex initiatives into manageable deliverables.\nLead architecture and design discussions across backend services, web applications, desktop software, databases, and cloud infrastructure.\nEvaluate competing technical approaches, considering quality, risk, delivery timelines, and team expertise.\nEstablish and champion engineering best practices, including code quality, automated testing, observability, and technical documentation.\nMentor and develop engineers across teams, helping them strengthen their technical skills, architectural thinking, and ability to make independent decisions.\nIdentify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.\nPartner with engineering managers, product leaders, and senior technical leadership to align technical decisions with business priorities.\nCollaborate across teams to resolve complex technical challenges, manage dependencies, and improve engineering effectiveness.\nHelp shape the long-term technical vision and culture of the engineering organization.\nContribute to hiring, onboarding, and developing engineering talent.\nWe’re looking for someone with\n8+ years of software development experience building and operating scalable, reliable systems that businesses depend on in production.\nA track record of leading a multi-team migration or re-platforming of a system with live users and live data, end-to-end.\nDeep understanding of computer science fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, networking, databases.\nStrong data modelling and relational database skills, including designing schemas and evolving data-intensive applications.\nProven ability to design distributed services with performance, observability, and fault tolerance in mind.\nStrong architectural instincts and the ability to make high-leverage technical decisions that hold across multiple teams and codebases.\nDemonstrated ability to influence and mentor senior engineers, guide teams through ambiguity, and raise engineering practices across the board.\nExceptional ownership mindset. You drive initiatives forward, raise the bar, and deliver lasting impact.\nExcellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, including with people who are not engineers.\nComfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-autonomy, product-driven environment.\nPreferred, not required:\nExperience with ERP, accounting, or other business management software, or with e-commerce and catalogue management.\nExperience building and maintaining Windows desktop applications, particularly in C++ or comparable native desktop technologies.\nExperience working with Microsoft Azure, including infrastructure supporting production applications.
