A better future?\nJob Description\nMaintenance Technician (Automation Repair Tech)\nOrion Plant - Auburn Hills, MI\nThe Automation Repair Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining automated production equipment and control systems. This role supports manufacturing operations by ensuring automation systems, robotics, PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, drives, and related machinery operate safely and efficiently while minimizing downtime. Additionally, the maintenance team supports the entire facility, providing opportunities to learn and develop skills in a variety of industrial maintenance disciplines.\nThe Role:\nPerform preventive maintenance per schedules and standards.\nAnalyze equipment performance and identify root causes of issues.\nSupport equipment startups, changeovers, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nWork closely with production and engineering teams to resolve equipment-related issues.\nMaintain accurate maintenance records, repair logs, and work order documentation.\nAssist with the development and implementation of process improvements to increase equipment reliability and efficiency.\nRespond to equipment breakdowns and emergency repair situations as needed.\nFoster a culture of safety awareness through correct and proper maintenance processes, procedures and actions.\nPhysical Requirements:\nStanding for long periods of time, climbing stairs or ladders, bending/crouching.\nThe ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.\nWorking at heights when needed\nYour Qualifications:\n3+ Years of experience in the manufacturing maintenance field.\nDiagnose and repair automation, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic system failures.\nTroubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, robots, servo motors, VFDs, sensors, and automated production equipment.\nAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.\nAbility to install, configure, and test automation equipment and machine control systems.\nKnowledge of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and automated control systems\nKnowledge of industrial safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures\nAbility to use a computer and Microsoft Office programs\nBonus If You Have:\nTechnical or Associate Degree in Mechatronics, Automation Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Electronics or related field.\nExperience with Vision Systems (Keyence, Cognex, etc.)\nExperience with Robotics (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa)\nExperience with HMI systems and industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, etc.)\nKnowledge of safety standards (machine safety, guarding, interlocks)\nLean / TPM experience\nJourneymen’s Card\nExperience in Automotive Manufacturing\nRobotics troubleshooting and programming experience.\nEducation Requirements\nGED or High School Diploma\nBenefits\nDental insurance\nEmployee assistance program\nHealth insurance\nVision insurance\nTuition Reimbursement\nPaid time off\nCompensation Data\nOvertime opportunities available\nPay: $35/hr\n1st Shift/Mid Shift until Q1 of 2027, then the role will transition to second shift based on business needs.\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nLear Corporation is committed to fair, merit-based employment practices and equal opportunity.\n\nWe provide reasonable accommodations in accordance with applicable law.
