A better future?\nWe're Lear For You.\nAUTOMATION ROBOTICS ENGINEER\nCOMSTOCK PARK, MICHIGAN - LEAR ASI AUTOMATION DIVISION\nLear Automation is seeking a highly skilled Fanuc Robotics Programmer to design, develop, and optimize robotic automation paths and logic. In this role, you will lead the programming, debugging, and commissioning of industrial robotic cells utilizing Fanuc platforms. You will work closely with Controls Engineers and mechanical design teams to integrate robots into complex manufacturing systems, ensuring maximum cycle-time efficiency and workplace safety\nAdvantages of working at Lear in the Automation group:\nDrive Innovation with new advancements at Lear and in the Seating Industry\nOpportunities for future training to broaden skills\nBe part of a team of experts to drive solutions that improve efficiencies, safety and quality\nWork with multiple assembly plants and integrators\nTechnical Competencies:\nCertification: Fanuc-approved training certifications (HandlingTool, Roboguide, iRVision, or DCS) are highly preferred\nDevelop and write structured robot application code from scratch using Fanuc Teach Pendant (TP) and Karel programming languages.\nBuild, test, and validate offline robotic programs and simulation cells using Fanuc Roboguide software before physical deployment.\nConfigure and define User Frames, Tool Frames (TCP), and payload schedules accurately.\nImplement and test advanced safety zoning via Fanuc Dual Check Safety (DCS) / Position Speed Check configurations\nEstablish communication interfaces between Fanuc controllers and master PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) over EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, or DeviceNet\nProficient with Fanuc Teach Pendant navigation and program structure.\nStrong understanding of industrial automation network protocols and I/O handshakes.\nCompetency in mechanical/electrical drawing layouts and reading schematics.\nFamiliarity with common applications like material handling, palletizing, or dispensing\nCompletion of Automation risk assessments\nWillingness to travel in North America - time traveling can be up to 50%.\nTeam Development\nMentor and Train plant controls engineers and support production as needed.\nCommunicate across cross functional groups\nSupport Kaizen, Improvement walks, and Error proofing projects\nMinimum Qualifications:\n5+ years’ experience in a similar role\nBonus:\nAutomated Guided Vehicles (AGV) experience\nVision - experience with robot guided vision systems\nBachelor’s in degree in Robotics, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related technical field\nLear Corporation is an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to a diverse workplace.\nApplicants must submit their resume for consideration using our applicant tracking system.
