A better future?\nJob Description\nThe Computer Vision & AI Integration Engineer is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and deploying advanced vision, sensing, and AI-enabled solutions across Lear's E-Systems manufacturing operations.\nThis role focuses on improving quality, productivity, traceability, and operator effectiveness through technologies such as machine vision, intelligent inspection, edge AI, industrial sensors, robotics, and automated decision support systems.\nWorking within the Digital and Automation organization, the engineer partners with manufacturing engineering, plant operations, and external technology providers to develop proof-of-concepts, validate business value, and scale successful solutions across Lear's global manufacturing network\nJoin a highly visible group shaping the future of manufacturing through computer vision, AI, and advanced automation, with regular engagement across engineering, operations, and executive leadership.\nBe part of a fast-growing innovation organization with the autonomy to identify opportunities, lead new technology deployments, and help define Lear's global advanced manufacturing strategy\nResponsibilities\nIdentify high-value use cases for computer vision, intelligent inspection, AI-enabled automation, and advanced sensing technologies\nDefine technical standards, best practices, and deployment documentation for vision and AI-enabled applications\nCollaborate with suppliers to implement vision systems for applications including defect detection, assembly verification, process monitoring, traceability, and quality control\nEvaluate and select cameras, lighting systems, sensors, AI platforms, robotics solutions, and system integration partners\nLead proof-of-concept and pilot projects from requirements definition through technical validation and deployment\nCooperate with automation, manufacturing engineering, IT, and digital teams to integrate solutions into existing equipment and production systems\nSupport deployment and standardization of successful solutions across multiple manufacturing plants.\nTroubleshoot and optimize system performance in production environments\nMonitor emerging technologies in computer vision, industrial AI, robotics, and smart manufacturing to identify new opportunities for operational improvement\nUp to 25% travel\nEducation Requirements\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field\nExperience Requirements\n3+ years of experience in manufacturing automation, machine vision, robotics, industrial controls, or AI-enabled manufacturing solutions\nExperience evaluating and managing automation, vision, AI, robotics, or system integration vendors.\nStrong understanding of manufacturing automation technologies, including PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, and production equipment integration.\nDemonstrated success leading technical pilots, prototypes, or implementation projects from concept through deployment.\nAbility to solve complex manufacturing challenges through structured problem-solving and technology application.\nStrong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, operations, IT, and external partners.\nBonus If You Have:\nHands-on experience with computer vision, deep learning, AI-based inspection, or edge computing applications.\nExperience in wire harness manufacturing environments.\nFamiliarity with MES, SCADA, industrial data platforms, and manufacturing system integration.\nCertifications / Licenses\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nLear Corporation is committed to fair, merit-based employment practices and equal opportunity.\nWe provide reasonable accommodations in accordance with applicable law.
