A better future?\nJob Description\nLear is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a dedicated team of engineers responsible for the development and delivery of automotive seating systems. This role combines technical leadership, people management, and customer-facing program ownership, ensuring products are delivered to the highest quality standards and within defined project milestones.\nThe successful candidate will play a key role in driving product development activities from concept through production launch while developing engineering talent and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.\nResponsibilities\nLead, coach, and develop a team of 2-10 engineers, supporting performance, engagement, and career development.\nOwn engineering deliverables throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept design through validation and production release.\nRepresent Lear in technical discussions, design reviews, and customer meetings, ensuring strong relationships and successful project execution.\nCoordinate cross-functional activities involving Engineering, CAD Design, Validation, Prototype Build, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Program Management teams.\nDrive issue resolution, risk management, and change management activities to achieve program milestones on time and within quality expectations.\nEvaluate technical concepts, engineering changes, and design proposals to ensure compliance with customer requirements and product objectives.\nMonitor project progress, product maturity, and engineering readiness, proactively communicating risks and recovery plans.\nSupport continuous improvement initiatives, engineering best practices, and efficient use of engineering resources and budgets.\nMentor less experienced engineers and contribute to building a strong succession pipeline within the team.\nPromote a customer-focused culture while ensuring engineering excellence and on-time project delivery.\nEducation Requirements\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.\nExperience Requirements\nMinimum 5 years of experience within the automotive industry.\nStrong background in automotive interiors engineering, preferably seating systems.\nPrevious experience leading or managing a small to medium-sized engineering team.\nProven experience delivering automotive product development projects from concept through production launch.\nExperience working directly with customers and managing technical reviews and project milestones.\nStrong technical problem-solving and decision-making skills.\nExcellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management capabilities.\nAbility to prioritize tasks, manage competing demands, and lead cross-functional teams effectively.\nExperience with change management, product validation activities, and engineering release processes is highly desirable.\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nLear Corporation is committed to fair, merit-based employment practices and equal opportunity.\nWe provide reasonable accommodations in accordance with applicable law.
