A better future?\nWe're Lear For You.\nSENIOR AUTOMATION CONTROLS ENGINEER\nNOVI, MICHIGAN\nAs a member of the Automation team, the Senior Automation Controls Engineer will be responsible for Leading, Supporting, Implementing, and Managing Automation projections while driving innovation in advancements.\nThe candidate will use their vast knowledge, experience, and resourcefulness to lead and implement automation cells and drive standards across North America. The candidate must be able to develop the concept, aid in the mechanical - lectrical design, install, train the receiving plant, and provide ongoing support for the robot cell. The candidate must also possess the skill to project lead other Integrators as a subject matter expert.\nAdvantages of working at Lear in the Automation group:\nDrive Innovation with new advancements in Industry\nOpportunities for future training to broaden skills\nBe part of a team of experts to drive solutions that improve efficiencies, safety, and quality\nWork with multiple assembly plants and integrator.\nAutomation Controls Role:\nResponsible for projects from technical specification to startup support\nDesign and develop all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and programming using Lear standards and build upon with innovative ideas\nWrite, implement, and debug PLC software\nDevelop contingency and disaster recovery plans\nSupport install, launch and production of all cells.\nSupport implementation of proven and newly developed advanced automation.\nRobust programming to increase equipment uptime without continuous intervention.\nDocument and use existing control standards to develop requirements for automated cells\nWillingness to travel in North America - time traveling can be up to 30-40%\nQualifications:\nExpert in RSLogix500, RSLogix5000, Studio5000, and FactoryTalk View Studio\nAbility to navigate and interpret structured text programming languages like Visual Basic, C++, C#, and Python\nFanuc and Universal Robotics Programming or basic understanding with Robotics\nKnowledgeable of I/O link, AB components, drive control, Keyence cameras, and industrial networking\nBasic experience with Vision systems to guide robot - offsets\nUnderstand and communicate applicable safety standards: general industry (OSHA 1910), machine guarding, robot safety (ANSI/RIA 15.06), automated vehicles, conveyor safety\nSupporting member of Risk Assessments on all automated equipment\nAbility to read and create electrical drawings in AutoCAD \nCoordinate and manage controls systems\nCommunication with external manufacturing system/MES and OPC\nExperience with SCADA systems\nMust be a creative thinker, results oriented, focused, and attentive to detail and accuracy\nSelf-driven and willingness to work long hours during installations, if required\nWillingness to travel up to 40% of the time\nBonus: Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV/AMR) experience\nTeam DevelopmentMentor and Train plant controls engineers and support production as needed.\nCommunicate across cross functional groups\nSupport Kaizen, Improvement walks, and Error proofing projects\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor’s Degree in Electrical and/or Software Engineering \n5 -15 years’ experience in a similar role \nLear Corporation is an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to a diverse workplace.\nApplicants must submit their resume for consideration using our applicant tracking system.
