You will play a key role in the execution and implementation of a diverse range of health and safety programs and can expect to work on challenging projects with diverse and collaborative teams to meet and exceed Ledcor’s safety standards.This position is site-based and the specific rotation schedule and project location will be determined based on project requirements.\nJoin our team on-site today!\nEssential Responsibilities:\nProvide coverage for the HS&E Manager while they are off schedule\nAbility to manage smaller HS&E Team or lead a smaller project independently\nMentorship and Support: You mentor and guide HS&E Coordinators and Advisors, helping them navigate safety processes and improve their effectiveness\nAbility to lead the Operations Team through the health and safety management system independently\nConduct inspections of the work area and meet with field supervisors to discuss any potential areas for improvement\nWork with the team to ensure the adequate supply of safety equipment, such as protective equipment, fire extinguishers, respirators, etc.\nAdvise operations regarding Ledcor's Health and Safety Management System, based on a solid understanding of program execution throughout the project lifecycle\nMonitor compliance with jurisdictional regulatory requirements\nAssists in the coordination and completion of inspections, focus audits and incident investigations\nVerify compliance with leading and lagging indicators, including subcontractors as well as any identified corrective actions\nIdentify HS&E trends and develop action plans to address them\nConduct the HS&E Orientation to employees and subcontractors during project onboarding.\nProvide support to site leadership in the preparation of site-specific material for safety meetings and toolbox talks\nSupport the coordination, organization and delivery of project toolbox talks and safety meetings\nDevelop and enhance Job Hazard Analysis and Safe Work Practice documents based on existing materials\nAudit the quality of the field level hazard assessments, inspections and incident investigation reports for accuracy and completeness\nAssist with the implementation of occupational hygiene practices and have awareness of medical screening programs\nOccupational Injury/Illness Management: You support supervisors in managing occupational injuries and illnesses, including monitoring return-to-work processes and implementing preventive safety measures\nQualifications:\n5+ years of related work experience in heavy civil, mining, or related industry\nStrong understanding of Mine Health and Safety Administration (MHSA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and best practices\nMSHA instructor card (Blue Card) and formal Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) education are an asset\nMust hold a CSP, Certificate or Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent through on-the-job experience.\nHas developed technical knowledge of common construction practices, techniques, and equipment within the Heavy Civil Construction and/or Open Pit Mining Industries\nAbility to effectively communicate and present information to the hourly workforce, while also effectively interacting with project management staff, clients, and customers\nAbility to provide a proactive approach to safety, to include identification of operational and organizational issues, as well as develop and implement strategies to solve them\nDemonstrated experience in risk assessment, program development, safety & health training, and accident investigation\nCapable of adapting information/style to the audience, explaining difficult information clearly, influencing, and persuading others towards consensus agreement in straightforward situations\nA strong team player attitude with the ability to effectively adjust to changing priorities and demands\nStrong communication and presentation skills\nStrong computer competency including experience with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel\nMust have and maintain a valid provincial driver’s license and driver's abstract\nSuccessful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements\nWork Conditions:\nFlexibility to travel to and work at various project sites will be required\nAdditional Information\nLedcor Heavy Civil and Mining services reach across the lifespan of a mine, from facility construction, to full-scale contract mining of coal, minerals, or metals, all the way to mine reclamation.
