We are in the irreplaceable business.\nThe Role\nWe’re hiring a Controllerto lead the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of Legacybox.\nWe need someone who is strong in accounting, but also understands how a business actually operates.\nThe Controller will own our monthly close, financial statements, general ledger, inventory and cost accounting, accounting processes, internal controls, and financial systems.\nThis person should be able to prepare accurate financial statements, understand what they are saying, identify when something does not make sense, and explain the important takeaways to the CFO.\nWe are looking for someone with good accounting judgment, strong operational instincts, and the ability to solve problems independently.\nThe right person will be comfortable getting into the details when necessary, but will also be able to step back, see how different parts of the business connect, and identify financial or operational issues before they become larger problems.\nUltimately, this role should make the finance function stronger and take meaningful work off the CFO’s plate.\nWhat You’ll Do\nFinancial Reporting & Accounting\nOwn the monthly and year-end close and ensure financial statements are accurate, complete, and delivered on time.\nPrepare and critically review the balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.\nMaintain a strong general ledger and ensure accounting practices are consistent with GAAP.\nUnderstand and explain what is driving changes in revenue, margins, expenses, inventory, cash, and other key accounts.\nBring financial results to the CFO with the important changes, questions, and issues already identified, not just the numbers.\nOperational Accounting & Business Support\nUnderstand how customer orders, payments, purchasing, inventory, production, shipping, and other operational activity flow through the financial statements.\nIdentify where operational processes are creating accounting, reconciliation, or reporting issues and work with teams to solve them at the source.\nMaintain strong accounting processes around inventory, cost of goods sold, accruals, purchasing, and payment processing.\nConnect operational activity to financial results and help leadership understand why performance is changing.\nUse sound accounting judgment and common sense to work through problems that do not always have a textbook answer.\nSystems, Controls & Process Improvement\nMaintain and improve the general ledger, chart of accounts, accounting processes, and internal controls as the business grows.\nLead the accounting side of financial system implementations, integrations, and major system changes.\nEnsure operational systems, e-commerce platforms, payment processors, and accounting systems tie accurately into the general ledger and financial statements.\nIdentify opportunities to simplify, automate, and strengthen accounting workflows and reconciliations.\nTake ownership of accounting and system problems and drive them through resolution rather than simply identifying them.\nTeam Leadership & Partnership\nLead and develop the finance and accounting team with clear ownership, deadlines, and expectations.\nReview the team’s work and resolve issues before they reach the CFO.\nPartner with the CFO on forecasting, cash flow planning, budgeting, and financial performance.\nWork across departments to improve financial processes and support better operational decisions.\nServe as a trusted financial resource who can take ownership of a problem, think it through, and move it forward.\nWhat We’re Looking For\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.\nStrong working knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.\nExperience owning or materially leading the monthly close and preparing a complete set of financial statements.\nAbility to read financial statements critically, identify issues and trends, and explain what is driving the results.\nStrong operational instincts and an understanding of how customer activity, purchasing, inventory, production, and payments flow through the financial statements.\nGood judgment and the ability to work through accounting and operational problems independently without losing sight of the bigger picture.\nExperience with accounting systems, financial system changes, integrations, or general ledger / chart-of-accounts improvements.\nStrong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work across departments, develop the accounting team, and present financial information clearly to senior leadership.\nPreferred Experience\nThe strongest candidates may also bring experience in some combination of the following:\nE-commerce, consumer, manufacturing, fulfillment, or other operations-heavy businesses.\nInventory and cost accounting in a product-based environment.\nHigh-volume transactions, payment processors, or e-commerce platforms.\nFinancial system implementations,
