We’re offering acompetitive base salary.\nLooking for a role where you can use your judgement, build specialist knowledge and make decisions that genuinely matter to customers?\nWe’re looking for an Initial Risk Underwriter to join our Retail Protection team. You don't necessarily need to have followed a traditional underwriting career path. We're interested in people with relevant life or protection experience as well as those whose medical or scientific background gives them a strong foundation for developing in underwriting.\nYou'll help assess applications for protection cover, consider individual risk factors and make fair, balanced decisions while building your technical expertise.\nWhat you'll be doing:\nReviewing customer applications and assessing relevant risk factors\nMaking balanced underwriting decisions within your authority level\nEscalating more complex cases when required\nRequesting additional information from customers and medical professionals\nResponding to customer and stakeholder queries clearly and professionally\nRecording case information and decisions accurately\nBuilding your knowledge of protection products, regulation and underwriting requirements\nSupporting positive customer outcomes and agreed service standards\nWho we're looking for:\nAn understanding of mortality and morbidity risk factors, or relevant knowledge that provides a strong foundation for developing this\nExperience within life assurance, protection, customer service or pre-sales underwriting, or a relevant medical/scientific background\nAn interest in developing a career in underwriting\nThe ability to review different pieces of information and reach balanced decisions\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nGood organisation and the ability to prioritise your workload\nAn awareness of Life, Critical Illness or Income Protection products would be beneficial\nKnowledge of relevant regulation or underwriting systems would be helpful, but training can be provided where needed\nWhatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you.
