This hands-on role requires someone who can architect robust data solutions while creating compelling, insight-driven dashboards that transform complex data into clear, actionable intelligence. Key Responsibilities Power BI Development & Visualization\n\nCreate sophisticated, visually stunning Power BI dashboards and reports that drive business decisions\n\nDevelop advanced DAX calculations, measures, and calculated columns to support complex analytical requirements\n\nDesign intuitive, user-friendly interfaces with custom visuals, drill-through capabilities, and interactive features\n\nImplement dynamic report features including bookmarks, parameters, field parameters, and dynamic formatting\n\nBuild composite models and leverage advanced features like aggregations, incremental refresh, and query folding\n\nData Engineering & Architecture\nDesign, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes using Power Query, Dataflows, and Azure Data Factory\n\nDevelop and optimize data models using star schema, snowflake schema, and other dimensional modeling techniques\n\nImplement and manage data warehouses and data lakes using Azure Synapse Analytics, SQL Server, or similar platforms\n\nWrite and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database functions for performance and efficiency\n\nEstablish data governance frameworks, including data quality checks, validation rules, and documentation standards\n\nTechnical Implementation\nConfigure and manage Power BI/Fabric workspaces, deployment pipelines, and version control\n\nImplement row-level security (RLS) and object-level security (OLS) for data protection\n\nOptimize report performance through query optimization, data model refinement, and DAX tuning\n\nIntegrate Power BI with various data sources including SQL databases, APIs, SharePoint, Excel, and cloud platforms\n\nAutomate data refresh schedules and monitor gateway configurations\n\nRequired Qualifications Technical Skills\n3+ years of hands-on experience with Power BI development (Desktop, Service, and Report Server)\n\nExpert-level proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and Power Query (M language)\n\nStrong SQL skills with experience in database design, query optimization, and performance tuning\n\nSolid understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and ETL principles\n\nExperience with data visualization best practices and UI/UX design principles\n\nProficiency in Azure data services (Azure SQL Database, Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, or Fabric)\n\nData & Analytical Expertise\nDeep understanding of data modeling techniques and relationships (one-to-many, many-to-many, bi-directional)\n\nStrong grasp of statistical concepts and analytical methodologies\n\nAbility to translate complex business requirements into technical data solutions\n\nExperience with data quality assessment and data profiling\n\nProfessional Competencies\nProven ability to create visually compelling, executive-level dashboards and reports\n\nStrong problem-solving skills with a hands-on, solution-oriented approach\n\nExcellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders\n\nDetail-oriented with commitment to code quality and documentation\n\nDemonstrated ability to use AI and automation in software engineering\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nCS or CIS bachelor 's degree\n\nMicrosoft certifications: PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst), DP-203 (Data Engineer), or DP-500 (Enterprise Data Analyst)\n\nExperience with Python or R for advanced analytics integration\n\nFamiliarity with Git/Azure DevOps for version control and CI/CD pipelines\n\nKnowledge of DAX Studio, and other Power BI development tools\n\nExperience with Power BI Embedded or custom API development\n\nUnderstanding of data science concepts and predictive analytics\n\nTechnical Environment\nPower BI Desktop, Power BI Service, Power BI Premium/Fabric\n\nSQL Server, Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics\n\nAzure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage\n\nDAX Studio, Tabular Editor, Power Query\n\nGit/Azure DevOps for version control\n\nWhat Makes You Stand Out\nPortfolio of impressive Power BI dashboards demonstrating design excellence and technical complexity\n\nTrack record of optimizing poorly performing reports and data models\n\nExperience mentoring others in Power BI development and best practices\n\nContributions to the Power BI community (blog posts, speaking engagements, open-source projects)\n\nThis is a hands-on technical role requiring daily interaction with data, code, and visualization design. The ideal candidate thrives in environments where they can build solutions from the ground up and take ownership of the entire BI development lifecycle. Base salary: $105,000–$120,000 per year. This role may be eligible for participation in discretionary bonus plan based on company and individual performance.
