Join us!\n\nTHE ROLE\nEvent Staff members play a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming, and memorable experience for every guest attending events at the Petersen Events Center and Victory Heights Arena. Staff are responsible for providing exceptional customer service while assisting with ticket scanning, ushering, crowd management, ADA accommodations, and maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for all patrons.\nThis position requires professionalism, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment during athletic events, concerts, family shows, commencements, conferences, and other special events.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES\nGUEST EXPERIENCE\nWelcome guests with a friendly, positive, and professional attitude\nProvide directions and assist guests in locating entrances, seating sections, restrooms, concessions, merchandise, and other venue amenities\nAnswer guest questions & inquiries regarding venue policies and event information\nResolve guest concerns or escalate issues to supervisors when appropriate\nTICKETING & ENTRY\nScan tickets and verify guest entry using handheld ticket scanners\nMonitor assigned entrances and assist with guest flow, especially during ingress and egress\nIf necessary, utilize iPads and other mobile technology to assist with ticket validation, troubleshoot entry issues, and help resolve common ticketing concerns. Training will be provided, and staff are expected to become comfortable navigating ticketing applications and basic device functions\nUSHERING\nAssist guests in locating assigned seats\nMonitor seating areas to ensure guests occupy appropriate ticketed locations\nKeep aisles, stairways, exits, and accessible seating areas clear throughout events\nCROWD MANAGEMENT\nAssist with crowd movement during ingress and egress\nManage guest lines during events as necessary\nAssist in maintaining orderly traffic flow throughout the facility \nQUALIFICATIONS\nAt least 18 years of age\nPrevious customer/guest service, hospitality, sports, entertainment, or event experience is preferred but not required\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills\nAbility to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations\nStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team\nEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE\nHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS\nAbility to stand and walk for long periods of time\nAbility to climb stairs frequently\nAbility to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions\nAbility to work in environments with loud noise and large crowds\nSCHEDULE/ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS\nMust be available to work evenings, weekends, weekdays, and holidays based on varying event schedules\nFull availability for Pitt Athletics events, concerts, large commencements and additional special events is expected\nShifts will vary in length depending on event needs\nEQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER\nThe Petersen Events Center and Victory Heights Arena are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for employees and guests.
