JOB SUMMARY:

As Manager, LoadingDock Operations, you play a critical role in the day-to-day operations of Barclays Center, overseeing the arena’s subterranean loadingdock with a strong focus on safety, organization, efficiency, and attention to detail.

The Barclays Center loadingdock is one of the venue’s most complex operational environments.It serves as the entry point for every show, team, truck, and delivery, often operatingunder tight timelines and in a highly condensed space. The Manager, LoadingDock Operations, is responsible forkeeping this critical area safe, orderly, and efficient while balancing the needs of tenants, promoters, vendors, and internal departments.

Supporting more than 200 events annually, this role manages the logisticsthat keep the arena moving-from concerts and NBA/WNBA games to daily deliveries and building operations. The Manager serves as a central pointof coordination for dock traffic, mailroom functions, equipment, and support staff, ensuring that each interaction and movement is handled with precision and professionalism. Success in this role requires strong coordination, clear communication, sound judgment, and the ability to lead a team effectively in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.

The ideal candidate is highly organized and brings demonstrated experience managing a busy loadingdock operation within a multi-use facility. Strong technology skills, including proficiencywith QTrak, Microsoft Word, and Excel, are required tocreate and maintaindelivery schedules and support efficient daily operations. The Manager will also plan and implement associated work tasks, coordinate operational priorities, and supervise full- and part-time staff to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

  • Eventful Overnights, Weekends and Holidays:

This role is closely connectedto the rhythm of Barclays Center events, including load-ins, load-outs, and event-day operations. With more than 200 events moving through the loadingdock each year, weekends, holidays, evenings, and overnight hours are an important part of the role. As the first point of entry for every event, the loadingdock is a fast-paced, high-energy environment where strong coordination, communication, and execution are essential.

  • Endurance Beyond the Norm:

The pace of live events can mean long days, late nights, and early mornings. The schedule will vary based on the event calendar and operational needs, requiring flexibility, resilience, and the ability to remain focused and effective throughout demanding shifts. The ability to maintaina steady presence and support the team through busy periods is key to success in this role.

  • Juggling Client Relationships:

The Manager, LoadingDock Operations, is at the intersection of multiple client relationships, with a focus on the Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty. Success involves not only managing these relationships but also ensuring seamless coordination and execution of events and deliveries to meet the diverse needs of each client. The ability to balance and prioritize multiple clients simultaneously is a key componentof success.

  • Dynamic Teamwork:

Collaboration is at the core of what we do. Success in this role requires effective teamwork with our NBA and WNBA teams, event promoters, and internal departments. Understanding and navigating the dynamics between multiple stakeholders are crucial skills that will define your success at Barclays Center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: What You Will Do

  • Manage and coordinate the day-to-day activities of all deliveries and for the arena.

  • Manage the LoadingDock Team during day-to-dayoperations during event and non-event hours.

  • Manage, superviseand coordinate activities of workers engaged in loadingand unloadingof trucks and in moving and storing materials or products.

  • Assistwith enforcing daily delivery schedulesfor operational efficiencies.

  • Coordinate the arrival and departure of all eventsrelated trucks as well as the organization of Sports team playerparking when required.

  • Assistwith the coordination of 3rdparty vendors such as waste services, off-site storage, and equipment service/rentals by enforcing the agreed upon scope of services within the various signed service agreements.

  • Assistswith hiring, training, and instructing the LoadingDock Team on the proper procedures for effectively and efficiently operatinga 24-hour operation.

  • Plan, schedule, and execute preventative and repair maintenance work when requiredon the loadingdockwith equipment including (6) forklifts, (2) scissor lifts, snow removal equipment, dock levelers, roll doors, truck elevatorsand vehicle turntable.

  • Assistswith teaching, trainingand certifying new Employees on the safe and proper techniques of forklift and scissor lift operation.

  • Provide a clean, safe environment for all personnel, tenants, vendors, clientsand patrons.

  • Supports and assiststhe department withrecruiting, training, supervising, and evaluating departmental personnel and service providers.

  • Preparing projected Event Cost Estimate/Analysis for specific areas of responsibility.

  • Assistingwithpurchasing and inventory control systems as it relatesto consumable items, tools and equipment within the LoadingDock and Mailroom.

  • Establishing and maintainingeffective working relationships with VP, Directors, Managers, Supervisors, employees, patrons, clients, service providersand corporate sponsors.

CANDIDATE PROFILE: Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Sport Management, Business, or Logistics/Supply Chain Management plus 2 years of progressively responsible positions and/or post baccalaureate experience in the job offered.

  • Specific experience as it relatesto an 18,000+ seat sports and entertainment multi-use facility; organizing and supervising operations for sporting and entertainment arena events.

  • Must have a continuous drive and passion for creating exceptionalexperiencesfor all guests, employees, tenantsand teams.

  • Knowledge and previousexperience working with NBA, NHL/AHL, NCAA (hockey and basketball), FELD Entertainment, AEG Live, Live Nation and other concert and family show promoters preferred.

  • Experience in developing and managing budgets.

  • Must be detail oriented, flexible, and able to always work with enthusiasm and professionalism, through a variety of circumstancesbyusing good judgment.

  • Must have a flexible schedule, with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary. The ability to demonstratedependability, reliabilityand punctuality, working assigned and varying shiftsand completing responsibilities in a timely mannerare required.

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background checkand employment check prior to employment.

  • Valid State Driver’s Licenseis required.

  • Fork and Aerial Lift Certificationis required.

  • Ability to adapt and work effectively in various parts of the facility.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Where You Will Be

  • This position is fully on-site based in Barclays Center Arena locatedin the heart of Brooklyn, New York.
