About the Role

The Parking & Security Operations Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, planning, and execution of parking, security, and event safety operations across Mesa Convention Center. This position ensures a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for guests, clients, employees, and visitors while overseeing parking services, security personnel, emergency preparedness, and event support operations.

ABOUT MESA CONVENTION CENTER

Located in downtown Mesa, Arizona, Mesa Convention Center is the largest event venue in the East Valley. The venue features nearly 40,000 square feet of flexible meeting and exhibit space, 26 breakout rooms, 40,000 square feet of outdoor function space, and an outdoor amphitheater with capacity for up to 5,000 guests. From conferences and trade shows to community gatherings, festivals, and live entertainment, Mesa Convention Center provides a versatile setting for memorable events and experiences.

WHAT YOU’LL DO (KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & OUTCOMES)

Operations & Event Management

  • Oversee daily and event-related parking and security operations across all facility properties.
  • Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and deployment plans to support facility and event needs.
  • Collaborate with Event Management and Operations teams to ensure seamless event execution and guest experience.
  • Conduct routine property inspections to ensure safety, security, functionality, and operational readiness.
  • Participate in pre-event planning and post-event evaluations to continuously improve event operations.
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients, artists, exhibitors, patrons, and stakeholders.

Safety, Security & Emergency Preparedness

  • Develop, implement, and enforce security, safety, and operational policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and update the facility Emergency Operations Plan annually.
  • Investigate security incidents, guest complaints, injuries, misconduct allegations, and other operational concerns.
  • Document and follow up on all security, safety, and first aid incidents.
  • Lead venue safety initiatives and chair the Safety Committee.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with local law enforcement, fire departments, EMS, and related agencies.
  • Ensure facility access control procedures are followed, including securing property and monitoring entrances and exits.

Parking Operations

  • Oversee parking revenue collection, cash handling procedures, ticket reconciliation, and internal controls.
  • Monitor parking facilities to ensure safety, security, traffic flow, and operational efficiency.
  • Manage parking equipment, inventory, supplies, and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Coordinate parking logistics and traffic management plans for events and facility operations.
  • Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and service recovery related to parking operations.

Leadership & Staff Development

  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise parking, security, and event staff.
  • Lead staff briefings, operational meetings, and safety training sessions.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, customer service, teamwork, and safety.
  • Ensure all team members understand emergency procedures, operational expectations, and guest service standards.

WHAT YOU BRING (QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE)

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Sports Management, Event Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in security, venue operations, parking operations, event management, or related fields.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience required.
  • Experience in live entertainment, convention centers, sports venues, arenas, or hospitality environments preferred.
  • Military or law enforcement experience is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple operational functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience handling emergency situations, conflict resolution, and incident response.
  • Strong financial accountability, including cash handling and revenue oversight.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships across departments and with external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency with scheduling, reporting, and operational management systems.
  • Ability to work flexible and irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & TRAVEL

  • This role is based on site in Mesa, AZ
  • You may be required to work a non traditional schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
