Join us!\nTHE ROLE\nThe Production & Event Operations Assistant provides part-time support for live performances and events at Tacoma City Theaters, including the Pantages Theater, Rialto Theater, and Theatre on the Square. Working primarily with Production and Events, this position assists with production administration, crew scheduling documentation, event preparation, and backstage operations, while also providing front-of-house and general event operations support as needed.\nThe ideal candidate is organized, dependable, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced live-event environment. Hours vary based on the event calendar and operational needs and may include show-day shifts exceeding 12 hours.\nESSENTIAL DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nAssist the Production Manager with crew schedules, call information, production paperwork, event documentation, and administrative tasks.\nSupport new-hire paperwork, onboarding documentation, and crew time records for IATSE union personnel.\nAssist with event-related parking permits, deliveries, equipment rentals, and other production logistics.\nMaintain accurate production records, checklists, schedules, and administrative files.\nProvide on-site support and coverage for rehearsals, performances, rentals, special events, load-ins, and load-outs as assigned.\nAssist with backstage preparation, including dressing rooms, hospitality setup and breakdown, signage, credentials, and artist needs.\nMonitor backstage readiness and communicate schedules, operational updates, and concerns to appropriate personnel.\nAssist with front-of-house preparation, event setup, guest services, staff check-in, and general event logistics as needed.\nMaintain positive working relationships with staff, union personnel, touring representatives, vendors, and guests while following established venue policies and safety procedures.\nEscalate matters involving safety, staffing, finances, contractual obligations, labor issues, or significant operational impacts to management.\nPerform other related duties as assigned.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty with energy and enthusiasm. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required.\nPrevious experience in theater, live events, production, or administrative support preferred.\nFamiliarity with backstage operations and union labor environments is a plus.\nSKILLS AND ABILITIES\nStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks.\nGood written and verbal communication skills.\nBasic proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.\nAbility to work independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively with others.\nDependable, adaptable, and comfortable working in a changing event environment.\nCOMPENSATION\nHourly Rate: $21-23 per hour depending on experience.\nOvertime: time and one half paid for weekly hours over 40\nSick leave paid in accordance with Washington state law\nWORKING CONDITIONS\nLocation: Tacoma City Theaters\nWork is performed in office, theater, backstage, loading dock, and front-of-house environments.\nPart-time, seasonal hours that vary based on event schedules and operational needs.\nFlexible availability required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.\nRegular interaction with staff, union personnel, touring representatives, vendors, and guests.\nMay require work across multiple theater locations.\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS\nFrequent walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, and climbing stairs.\nAbility to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.\nAbility to remain on feet for extended periods during rehearsals, performances, and events.\nAbility to work safely in active backstage and production environments.\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
