Lawrence Convention Center.\nThis Security position is responsible in the day-today functions of securing, directing, and promoting security and safety in the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. This role also includes providing direction, safety and security for all event related activities as required. The Security Guard is required to perform the following essential functions during the course of a normal workday:\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nOperate and monitor computerized surveillance camera systems and fire alarm systems as required.\nComplete detailed reports on activity during shift and maintains daily log of activities.\nMaintain constant radio communication with Control\nAssist in the control of patrons that visit the facility.\nEnsure crowd control stays at a reasonable level and assist in conflicts as needed.\nResponds to emergency situations, complete incident reports, initiate AED/CPR/First Aid until EMS arrives\nConduct routine property walks around the building (25 million sq ft) that will include: Patrol Service Corridors, Parking Lots, grounds, loading docks, offices, rental, and administrative spaces including event halls, meeting rooms and employee break rooms\nPatrol Mechanical and electrical rooms to assure doors are locked\nPatrol Event Halls and Pre-function Areas\nControl flow of truck traffic during move in and move out on docks\nPerform routine patrols inside and outside perimeter rounds every ½ hour,\nRestrict access to nonevent personnel or employees\nDirect people and trucks to relevant event places\n\nLocks and unlocks facility doors.\nBe knowledgeable about locations throughout the facility.\nBe courteous and helpful.\nAll other duties/responsibilities as assigned.\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS\nFrequent stair climbing, walking on uneven surfaces\nConstant Vision (Corrected or Uncorrected), and Hearing\nConstant excessive standing and sitting, walking for sustained amounts of time.\nOccasional exposure to cold/heat condition due to weather temperature changes inside and outside during perimeter tours/rounds.\nOccasional High Noise Level Exposure\nOccasional Verbal Communication (Talking)\nOccasional Exposure to airborne inhalants, dust, exhaust fumes (increases to frequent during show move ins/outs while working directing dock traffic)\nNo overhead lifting, carrying, or push/pulling or reaching above head, or shoulders\nQUALIFICATIONS\nGood verbal communication and customer service skills. Ability to conduct walking patrols and stand on feet for long periods of time.\nMust be able to operate and use two-way radios\nEDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE\nHigh school diploma/equivalent preferred.\n6 months to 1 year security/police experience preferred\nHOURS OF WORK AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS\nShift hours and days will vary depending upon needs but includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
