Now, we own more mattress industry patents than anyone in the world.\nSprings, foam, adjustable beds, machinery - our Bedding businesses design, produce, and supply innovative sleep solutions that help you rest comfortably.\nLearn more about Bedding Components: L&P Bedding Group\n\nOverview:\n\nContribute to Sterling Steel safely producing high quality products at the lowest cost by\nSupervising Maintenance (Electrical & Mechanical) Supervisors and all Maintenance activities in the Rod Mill.\n\nResponsibilities & Duties:\n\nPlan preventative and general maintenance work and submit purchasing requisitions for necessary supplies and services.\nPlan for and lead teams during weekly and annual maintenance shutdowns.\nParticipate in annual budgeting process.\nContinually strive to improve performance and quality by achieving all maintenance related KPIs \nProvide maintenance input when requested by Rod Mill Manager.\nParticipate in training from HR, Rod Manager, Safety, and Leggett & Platt \nPartner with HR in hiring and disciplining maintenance employees and performing investigations regarding work comp, employee relations or union grievance.\nEncourage cooperation and teamwork among maintenance and production employees.\nDirect, train and provide back-up for Mechanical and Electrical Supervisors \nTrain and assist maintenance employees as needed.\nReport to work as scheduled and available for on call as agreed upon\nFollow all related SJPs\nAdhere to and enforce all SSC Policies and Work Rules\nComply with all SSC Safety rules and ensure all employees work safely\nAll other duties as assigned\n\nExperience/Education/Skill/Knowledge:\n\nMaintenance mechanical and electrical knowledge and experience.\nTrouble-shooting skills in both mechanical and electrical departments.\nStrong leadership and teamwork facilitation skills.\nWillingness and ability to respond to calls 24/7. \nAbility to effectively read, write, understand, and otherwise communicate in English \nWilling and able to learn, retain and apply new information \nEffective organizational and multi-tasking abilities.\nAverage Excel, Outlook and Word skills with ability to learn new software\nMinimum 3 yr supervisory experience in manufacturing environment \nPrevious work in Steel Mill (specifically a Rod Mill) a plus.\nBachelor’s degree in business/management/manufacturing or related preferred\n\nPhysical Demands:\n\nWork in extreme temperatures (hot & cold) while wearing required PPE\nWork at heights wearing fall protection occasionally \nWork in dusty, greasy, dirty mill, outside and climate-controlled office environments\nMobility to move to any area of assigned location (Rod Mill, Admin Building or Melt Shop)\nAbility to sit for long periods of time at desk/computer\nDexterity to operate office machinery\nStrength and stamina to walk long distances and remain on feet for majority of workday\nWalk up/down stairs & climb ladders safely\nLift up to 25 pounds occasionally\nCommunicate effectively in English verbally & in writing \nAbove average computer skills including dexterity to type on keyboard\nDexterity to operate necessary tools/machinery/mobile equipment\n\nTool/Machines/Equipment Used:\n\nComputer\nPhone\nMechanical tools\nElectrical tools\nMobile equipment\nUTV\n\nBase Salary Range:\n$90,000 - $120,000\nSterling Steel employees receive a base salary plus production-based incentive pay.\nThis is a good-faith estimate of the salary range of this position.
