We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Sales & Technical Service Representative within our Home Furniture Sales and Field Support team to help support our Home Furniture business. Our Home Furniture business brings an intense focus on the customer, innovation, world-class manufacturing capabilities, and a global footprint together to create full package solutions for the industry. We do not make furniture. We make furniture more comfortable. We need the best people on our team to support our strategy, and your work will ensure people around the world have a little more comfort in their lives.

As a Sales & Technical Service Representative, you will have the opportunity to combine technical expertise, customer relationship management, and sales support while serving as the primary field resource for customers throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by driving customer satisfaction, supporting territory sales growth, providing valuable product feedback, and ensuring customers receive industry-leading service and support. The team you will be working with is collaborative, customer-focused, and results-driven, and values continuous improvement, strong partnerships, responsiveness, and a commitment to excellence.

So, what will you be doing as a Sales & Technical Service Representative?

  • Manage the Mid-Atlantic service territory, primarily covering North Carolina, while supporting customers in South Carolina and Virginia. Position ideally based out of Conover/High Point, NC.
  • Plan and prioritize customer visits, travel schedules, and service activities to maximize territory coverage and business impact.
  • Build strong working relationships with customer personnel at all levels, from production employees to plant leadership and general managers.
  • Coordinate closely with the Vertex Sales Office to support customer needs and sales growth opportunities.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, and repair Vertex tools and equipment in the field.
  • Train customers and other personnel on the operation, maintenance, and servicing of Vertex tools and equipment.
  • Determine parts requirements and provide recommendations for repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate customer records, service documentation, and call reports.
  • Provide Voice of the Customer insights, product feedback, and market intelligence to Vertex management.
  • Deliver exceptional service that exceeds customer expectations and strengthens long-term customer partnerships.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing tools, machinery, or industrial equipment.
  • Experience communicating directly with customers and supporting field service or sales activities.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to independently manage a large geographic territory and prioritize competing responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to train customers and others on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Experience maintaining accurate records, service reports, and customer documentation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • A self-motivated, outgoing, and customer-focused approach to work.
  • A commitment to Leggett & Platt's People First culture and continuous improvement mindset.

Things we consider a plus:

  • Previous experience in outside service, field service, or territory management.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, furniture, industrial, or machinery-related industries.
  • Familiarity with CRM, sales reporting, or business intelligence tools such as QlikView.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications and customer service reporting systems.
  • Technical training or certifications related to mechanical, industrial, or equipment maintenance.
  • Experience collaborating closely with sales teams to grow customer relationships and support revenue growth.
