Join us!\nHPC System Administrator (f/m/d)\nYour Role and Responsibilities:\nWe are looking for an HPC System Administrator to join our HPC Systems Operation group. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and optimization of our HPC clusters, ensuring maximum performance and availability. These HPC clusters comprise the national supercomputer at LRZ as well as additional state-wide HPC clusters of various size.\nDeploy, configure, and maintain HPC clusters.\nAutomate routine tasks using scripting (Bash, Python).\nOperate Ethernet networks and HPC interconnects.\nMaintain system security, apply patches, and implement security measures.\nHunt and fix bugs, often in collaboration with vendor companies.\nDocument systems and procedures.\nYou actively contribute to the development and implementation of certified and transparent processes.\nYour Qualifications:\nUniversity degree (master or above) in computer science, mathematics, or natural sciences\nAt least three years of experience in high-performance computing\nSolid experience with Linux servers in a large-scale environment\nProficiency in the system administration of Linux servers including security considerations and hardening\nProficiency in scripting and automation (e.g. Shell, Python)\nStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills\nExcellent German and English in writing and speaking\nYou like to share your experience and review existing processes to identify opportunities for improvement within the team.\nOf course, we provide comprehensive onboarding for career starters and professionals returning to the workforce.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience in the installation and operation of Linux clusters with cluster-management tools like xCAT or confluent\nExperience with Ethernet networks, High-Performance Interconnects, and Parallel Filesystems.\nKnowledge about compiled programming languages (e.g. C, C++)\nAbility to develop and implement practical solutions autonomously as well as in a team\nService-oriented attitude\nConditions:\n\nWorking time\nfull time (40 hrs)\nflexible working model with electronic time recording\nContract duration\n24 months, a further employment is intended\nRemuneration\nup to E 13, see Entgelttabelle TV-L\nAnnual leave / compensatory time off\n30 days\n(24.12. + 31.12. additionally day off)\nOvertime is compensated by additional time off\nBenefits\nUp to 60% mobile work for suitable tasks, mostly two-person offices, bus and subway (U6) on the doorstep, free parking, pension plan of the Versorgungsanstalt des Bundes und der Länder (VBL), state-of-the-art work equipment, Cooperation Agreement with Sports Facility Providers for Discounted Membership\nWhat you can expect at LRZ:\nAre you looking for a multifaceted and intellectually stimulating position in a dynamic, cooperative and innovative work environment?
