The role is accountable for the integrity of the overall engineering solution and leads technical governance across applications, integration, data, cloud, security, test and operational readiness.\nThe role you will play:\nAct as the senior engineering authority for ESCS and the principal technical interface to programme leadership\nSet engineering direction, technical guardrails and decision routes across capability teams and suppliers.\nEnsure prototypes, demonstrations and IRAD outputs have a credible route to secure, scalable, supportable production delivery.\nProvide independent technical judgement when delivery, cost, schedule, risk and customer outcomes require trade-offs.\nPrimary responsibilities:\nOwn the ESCS engineering strategy, technical baseline, engineering management plan and technical decision record.\nLead multidisciplinary engineering across architecture, software, integration, data, cloud infrastructure, security, test and service readiness.\nTranslate customer outcomes and operational scenarios into technical priorities, increments and engineering acceptance criteria.\nChair technical and design reviews and assure high-level and low-level designs, interfaces and non-functional requirements.\nMaintain technical authority over solution integrity, configuration, interfaces, technical debt and engineering risks.\nIdentify the skills, supplier inputs, dependencies, assumptions and assurance evidence required for delivery.\nAlign technical estimates, WBS/PBS content, resource assumptions and technical milestones with the integrated programme plan.\nDrive repeatable deployment, automated testing, configuration management, observability, security and documentation practices.\nProvide technical coaching and delegated authority while retaining accountability for the overall engineering solution.\nSupport customer demonstrations, bids and investment decisions with clear evidence of feasibility, maturity and residual risk.\nRequired skills and capabilities:\nChief engineering or senior technical authority leadership \nSystems engineering and lifecycle assurance \nEnterprise and solution architecture \nCOTS and SaaS integration \nAPI, event and data-flow architecture \nCloud-native engineering, Infrastructure as Code and DevSecOps \nNon-functional requirements, security and operational readiness \nTechnical baseline, configuration and interface management \nTechnical planning, estimation, risk and design governance \nSenior stakeholder, supplier and multidisciplinary engineering leadership \nRequired experience:\nTechnical authority or engineering leadership for complex systems integration or enterprise platform delivery. \nLeading engineering across multiple disciplines rather than a single technology domain. \nMaintaining the integrity of an end-to-end solution through design, build, integration, verification and transition. \nConverting discovery, prototype or demonstration outputs into an assured production delivery path. \nInfluencing senior stakeholders while remaining sufficiently close to delivery to resolve technical constraints. \nProducing and assuring technical documentation, estimates, design evidence and acceptance artefacts. \nDesired experience:\nSupply chain, procurement, order management or logistics technology. \nIBM Sterling OMS, Ivalua, planning platforms or comparable COTS products. \nAWS-based platforms, containerised workloads and automated deployment. \nIRAD, bid, demonstrator or product incubation environments. \nDefence, government or security-conscious delivery. \nSuccess in the role :\nThe ESCS technical baseline is coherent, controlled and traceable to programme outcomes. \nTechnical decisions are timely, explicit and supported by evidence. \nCapability teams and suppliers work within consistent engineering guardrails. \nThe route from demonstration to production is understood, costed and assured. \nTechnical debt, dependencies and assurance gaps are visible and actively managed. \nProgramme leaders receive clear, credible and independent engineering advice. \nClearance Requirements:\nSC required to start\nSC required for the role\nLeidos UK!
