We rely on a team of skilled staff capable of operating across technical domains, embracing challenges, and being adaptable to new technologies and new ideas.\nAbout the Role\nThe Cloud Infrastructure Engineer supports the operation, maintenance, automation, and continued modernization of AWS and hybrid-cloud infrastructure supporting federal systems. The engineer will work alongside senior infrastructure and security engineers to implement cloud changes, troubleshoot issues, maintain infrastructure-as-code, remediate vulnerabilities, monitor system health, and improve operational processes.\nThis is a developmental engineering position intended for an individual with strong technical fundamentals who wants to build deeper expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure, automation, networking, and security. The engineer is not expected to arrive as an expert across the AWS platform but should demonstrate technical curiosity, ownership, and the ability to learn unfamiliar technologies.\nAbout the Candidate\nWe are specifically looking for someone who can:\nSupport AWS infrastructure including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, Systems Manager, load balancing, DNS, and related services.\nImplement infrastructure changes using established architecture, procedures, and infrastructure-as-code.\nMaintain and modify Terraform and/or CloudFormation configurations under guidance from senior engineers.\nMonitor cloud resources and investigate availability, performance, configuration, and security issues.\nTroubleshoot networking, operating system, application connectivity, permissions, DNS, and cloud-service issues.\nSupport vulnerability remediation, patching, configuration compliance, and security-hardening activities.\nAssist with cloud migrations, modernization efforts, disaster recovery, and infrastructure lifecycle activities.\nDevelop scripts and automation to reduce repetitive administrative work.\nMaintain technical documentation, diagrams, procedures, and change records.\nParticipate in incident response and root-cause analysis.\nWork with senior engineers to learn cloud architecture, security, networking, automation, and operational best practices.\nGradually assume ownership of cloud services and technical workstreams as experience develops.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in information systems or relevant field and 1-3 years of practical experience in the field\nAbility to obtain public trust clearance\nAbility to independently manage assigned work, document technical activities, communicate issues, and seek assistance when appropriate.\nDemonstrated self-initiative to build enterprise-like AWS systems and resources that align with well-architected frameworks\nUnderstanding of fundamental networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, subnets, and firewalls/security groups, with the ability to apply systematic troubleshooting methods\nBasic understanding of infrastructure security concepts such as least privilege, vulnerability remediation, system hardening, and security baselines.\nHands-on experience building solutions with Cloudformation, Terraform, Python, or other tools\nBeneficial Qualifications\nCloud related certifications (Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, etc)\nExposure to CIS Benchmarks, STIGs, or similar security and compliance frameworks\nIf you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
