We're looking for someone dedicated to ensuring that every project, no matter how simple or complex, is delivered with exceptional quality. You'll work directly with utility clients to maintain Leidos' reputation for excellence while leading a talented team supporting one of the nation's most unique electric utility systems. Your greatest work is ahead!\nLocation & Relocation\nThis position is based on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, supporting our local utility customers, projects, and team. We welcome qualified candidates who are already located on Oahu, as well as candidates from across the United States who are interested in relocating. A competitive relocation package is available to eligible hires to assist with their transition to Oahu.\nAs a Distribution Engineer, you can expect to:\nIndependently develop design and construction work packages for moderately complex electrical overhead and underground distribution systems operating from 4kV through 138kV mostly associated with programmatic work such as overloaded transformers, inspection and maintenance, joint use, and inspection reports.\nWorks to achieve day-to-day objectives with the project team.\nReview work provided by Client and assess requirements of scopes.\nAssist other technical staff with tasks and assignments.\nDevelop permitting documents for different AHJ’s\nCoordinate with permit agencies, right-of-way specialists, system owners, field leaders, forestry leaders, and 3rd party owners for joint-owned poles\nCoordinate across multiple internal areas including Project Managers and Technical Resources.\nAble to explain technical solutions, practices, and procedures within the organization.\nTravel to sites/Customer meetings as needed.\nPerform engineering calculations such as: structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, specifying conductor sags and tensions for recommended spans, and calculation of voltage drop and flicker.\nPerform reviews of work by other engineers for submittal to Clients.\nProvide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met. \nConduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design. \nComply with Leidos and Client Safety requirements as well as design and quality expectations.\nWhat Sets You Apart (Background Requirements):\n2+ years of prior relevant experience is required.\nBachelor's Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred); additional relevant experience/certifications may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree\nExperience with NESC Standards, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, and Bluebeam and/or Adobe.\nExperience with ESRI and GIS a plus.\nExperience with distribution design tools such as BOUD, Pole Foreman, Spida-Calc, O-Calc\nProficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) required.\nExcellent verbal and written communications skills.\nWillingness to perform both field and office work. \nOvernight travel may be required (15-25% travel).\nAbility to work in outdoor environments.\nMust have a valid driver’s license and the ability to use a personal vehicle for work-related travel, as needed.\nAt Leidos, we pride ourselves on being a trusted and technology-focused solutions provider.
