For us, helping you grow your career is good business.\nLeidos is seeking a Distribution Engineering Manager who is passionate about electric utility design engineering to lead and oversee a team within our growing Power Distribution Engineering organization. This role will be responsible for leading distribution engineers and designers in the development of construction work packages for electric distribution systems, while providing technical oversight and QA/QC for both simple and complex engineering projects.\nThe team will utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools, Work Management Systems (WMS), and other client systems to develop high-quality work packages in accordance with client and construction standards. The Distribution Engineering Manager will also oversee activities such as developing bills of materials (BOMs), cost estimating, forestry trimming requests, permitting and Right-of-Way acquisition, easements, and Customer Contribution in Aid of Construction (CIAC) calculations. This role will work directly with clients, provide leadership and guidance to the engineering team, and ensure Leidos’ reputation for high-quality work and customer service is maintained.\nLocation: This position is based in Charlotte, NC with a preference for candidates to work onsite in the office full time.\nAs a Distribution Engineering Manager, you can expect to:\nProvide technical oversight, direction, and support for project teams.\nFunction as client point of contact and liaison on project-related issues. \nCollaborate with other design managers on broad client issues including schedule adherence and team quality control\nOversee and manage existing capital, reliability, and customer project work for clients: Customer project work may include reconductors, voltage conversions, load swaps, circuit rebuilds, DOT relocations, DG integrations, and new, large customer development feeds (OH & UG).\nFacilitate client & team collaboration and communication; managing resource loading based on clients demands.\nTrack scope, schedule, and budget for projects in flight\nOversee QA/QC for your design team\nMonitor team performance metrics\nTrack and report financial metrics\nPartake in Hiring efforts for your team, as well as participate in activities that will drive professional development for designers and engineers in your organization\nWhat Sets You Apart (Required Qualifications):\nBachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline (Electrical or Mechanical preferred) from an ABET-accredited institution; Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.\n8+ years of prior relevant experience is required OR 6+ years of relevant experience with master’s degree.\nDemonstrated Experience leading engineering personnel\nProficient knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and comprehension of client construction standards.\nSuccessful project management experience (initiate, plan, execute, monitor & control, closeout)\nStrong communication skills, written and interpersonal communications skills.\nCollaborative and inclusive of individuals of diverse backgrounds and geographic locations.\nAbility to work with limited supervision and provide leadership to other team members; Ability to work effectively in teams.\nYou Might Also Have (Preferred Qualifications):\nExperience with software such as PoleForeman, Bentley OpenUtilities Designer, GE Smallworld, Maximo, or similar products.\nExperience with complex projects in distribution design: using medium voltage switchgear, voltage conversion projects, distribution automation projects.\nExperience with development of civil & electrical packages associated with complex cable/conduit in dense urban environments.\nPMP certification and/or PE license\nWe’re looking for someone who is dedicated to ensuring that every project, no matter how simple or complex, is of exceptional quality.
