For us, helping you grow your career is good business.\nLeidos is seeking a Distribution Engineering Supervisor in Richmond, VA to support the Joint Use Make Ready Design Program by providing day-to-day supervision, technical guidance, and operational support to personnel performing Joint Use engineering, design, fielding, and related activities. This role helps coordinate workloads and priorities, reviews work for compliance with applicable standards, and works with Regional Leads, telecom attachers, permitting teams, and internal stakeholders as needed. The Supervisor supports timely, accurate deliverables and assists program leadership in maintaining quality, consistency, and team performance.\nLocation: This position is an office role based in Richmond, VA, with a preference for candidates who can work in the office 3-4 days per week. The selected candidate must be available to travel to the Richmond office on an as-needed basis. Occasional travel to client facilities, client meetings, field locations, training events or project sites may be required. Work assignments and priorities may shift base on program workload, schedules, staffing needs, etc.\nKey Responsibilities:\nDirectly supervise engineering, design, field, and technical personnel supporting the Joint Use Program\nProvide day-to-day technical, operational, and personnel guidance to assigned staff\nAssist with coordinating and prioritizing employee assignments based on project schedules, available resources, employee capabilities, and changing client needs\nMonitor individual and assigned team productivity, workload, schedules, utilization, and deliverable quality\nReview Joint Use engineering and design work for compliance with standards, applicable codes, and program requirements\nPerform and support QA/QC activities to maintain accurate, consistent, and high-quality deliverables\nSupport Joint Use Make Ready engineering, fielding, permitting, post-inspection, and other related program activities as assigned\nCoordinate with Regional Leads, telecom attachers, permitting teams, and internal stakeholders as needed to support project execution\nAct as a secondary technical and operational contact for Joint Use representatives as appropriate\nAssist in resolving technical, operational, field, and workflow-related issues, escalating significant issues to program leadership as needed\nSupport employee development through coaching, feedback, training, and knowledge sharing\nAssist with employee performance management, regular check-ins, onboarding, and development of assigned personnel\nPromote consistent application of Joint Use processes, standards, procedures, and best practices\nContribute to process improvement, workflow efficiency, and quality initiatives\nSupport program leadership with staffing, workload planning, resource coordination, reporting, and other operational needs as requested\nBackground Requirements:\n2+ years of prior relevant experience is required.\nBachelor's Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred); additional relevant experience/certifications may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree.\nWorking knowledge of electric distribution engineering principles, including overhead and underground distribution systems\nFamiliarity with Joint Use, Make Ready engineering, pole attachments, permitting, and third-party attachment processes\nUnderstanding of NESC, GO95, utility construction standards, and distribution design practices\nFamiliarity with Joint Use standards, systems, and processes preferred\nWorking knowledge of pole loading analysis software such as O-Calc Pro, SPIDAcalc, or equivalent, and familiarity with GIS tools\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively support team members, clients, and project stakeholders\nAbility to review technical work products, identify issues, and provide constructive feedback and guidance\nAbility to support technical and operational problem-solving through collaboration and structured analysis\nStrong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to help manage competing priorities and schedule commitments\nAbility to adapt to changing workloads, project requirements, and client priorities\nWe’re looking for someone who is dedicated to ensuring that every project, no matter how simple or complex, is of exceptional quality.
