This hands-on role leads solution-level design and implementation within standards established by the Cloud Data Architect and VA architecture governance.\nPrimary Responsibilities\nTranslate VA customer and platform requirements into implementable solution architectures with product owners, analysts, and engineers.\nDesign end-to-end Azure/cloud and hybrid solutions spanning applications, APIs, data integration, security, automation, and platform services.\nProduce architecture diagrams, technical designs, interface specifications, implementation guidance, and decision records.\nEvaluate approved patterns and alternatives for functionality, scalability, performance, security, maintainability, and cost.\nDesign data-platform integrations covering ingestion, transformation, storage, analytics, and interoperability.\nEnsure compliance with the Summit Enterprise Reference Architecture, VA technical standards, cybersecurity, and data governance.\nCoordinate design reviews and exceptions with the Cloud Data Architect and VA architecture governance stakeholders.\nDevelop technical estimates, assess dependencies, and advise on solution planning and implementation tradeoffs.\nGuide software, data, and DevSecOps engineers through design, development, deployment, and operational handoff.\nPromote reusable platform patterns and automation to reduce manual work and accelerate delivery.\nSupport design reviews, testing, deployment readiness, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.\nMaintain architecture and implementation documentation.\nProvide technical escalation support for complex production incidents, integration failures, and service restoration as needed.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field and 12+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience under Leidos standards.\nExperience designing and implementing complex enterprise solutions across applications and technical disciplines.\nCloud solution architecture experience (Azure preferred), including compute, storage, networking, identity, and integration.\nExperience integrating systems through APIs, web services, messaging, or comparable technologies.\nWorking knowledge of databases, data pipelines, integration, and cloud analytics platforms.\nKnowledge of secure architecture, identity/access management, encryption, and cybersecurity principles.\nExperience producing architecture diagrams, technical designs, and implementation documentation.\nAbility to assess alternatives against performance, scalability, security, cost, and operational needs.\nEffective collaboration with customers, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, writing, and technical presentation skills.\nAbility to obtain and maintain VA Public Trust suitability (Tier 2/Moderate Risk).\nPreferred Qualifications\n Highly preferred: Direct, hands-on VA Summit Data Platform experience, including its architecture, integrations, technologies, and operations; related VA data/analytics or modernization experience also valued.\nExperience on VA or other federal IT programs and familiarity with federal architecture, security, and compliance.\nHands-on Azure data services, Databricks, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, or comparable platforms.\nFamiliarity with Lakehouse architecture, metadata, catalogs, data governance, and interoperability.\nExperience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, DevSecOps, and automated cloud provisioning.\nFamiliarity with ServiceNow intake, provisioning, and IT service-management workflows.\nKnowledge of NIST 800-53, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and Authority to Operate (ATO) processes.\nExperience with Agile delivery and cross-functional engineering teams.\nRelevant certification, such as Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent.\nIf you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
