This position will require the use of a variety of chemistry methods and instrumentation to support onsite environmental remediation work. The Laboratory Technician will primarily be performing soil sample preparation and sample digestions supporting sample analysis using CVAA, ICP-MS, and alpha spectrometry. This position also has the opportunity to assist in other areas of the lab (instrument analysis, data analysis/review, data package development, etc.).\nThe Laboratory Technician will use a variety of chemistry methods and instrumentation to support onsite environmental remediation work. The Laboratory Technician will be performing soil sample preparation, sample digestions, chemical isotope separations, and sample analysis using various analytical instrumentation. The Laboratory Technician will also assist with data analysis and review, preparing and reviewing data packages and reports, instrument maintenance and repair.\nThis position requires on-site support, and passing a blood beryllium lymphocyte proliferation test (BeLPT) prior to starting work at the customer site.\nMust be able to pass a Public Trust background investigation; per contract requirements, U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency is require d.\nYour Main Objectives:\nPerform formal chain-of-custody sample receipt, verification of sample information, and logging of samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).\nPerform sample preparation on soil and preservation and aliquoting of water samples prior to analysis.\nPerform sample digestions and chemical separations per appropriate SOP.\nMaintain a clean laboratory area by following all laboratory decontamination procedures.\nPrepare reagents as needed for the laboratory processes.\nApplicant must be able to follow all radiation and chemical safety procedures in all areas of the laboratory.\nWhat Sets You Apart:\nHigh School Diploma and 2 years laboratory experience, or a bachelor’s degree in physics or chemistry or related sciences degree.\nCapable of reviewing, compiling, and providing data files to users.\nCapable of performing sample preparation procedures.\nCapable of performing counting procedures on CVAA, ICP-MS, XRD, optical fluorescence, alpha, gamma, and gross alpha/beta samples.\nCapable of performing isotopic chemical separation procedures.\nYou Might Also Have:\nPrior laboratory experience is preferred.\nThis position is covered under the Service Contract Act and is subject to minimum wage requirements as well as minimum Health and Welfare benefits.
