If you’re the person with a bench full of side projects and you’d rather build the thing than hand it off, read on.\nThe role\nYou’ll own electrical designs from the first block diagram to a working prototype on the bench. That means choosing off-the-shelf parts where they fit, designing custom circuits where they don’t, building and testing your own hardware, and documenting it so it’s ready for production. The work spans power, RF, controls, and analog and digital design.\nWhat you’ll do\nOwn designs end to end: requirements, architecture, schematics, prototyping, test, and release\nSolve complex electrical problems with off-the-shelf parts or custom solutions\nWork across power distribution, RF design, logic/controls, and custom analog and digital circuits\nBuild, bring up, and debug prototypes, then iterate quickly\nTest with VNAs, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, multimeters, and lab power supplies/loads\nCreate block diagrams for top-level systems and lower-level sub-assemblies\nDocument and release designs in KiCAD, SolidWorks Electrical, Visio, or similar\nTeam up with project teams on a broad range of products and applications\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering or a STEM discipline from an ABET-accredited school with 4+ years of directly applicable experience, or an MS with 2+ years of relevant experience\nDemonstrated design work in a CAD package similar to SolidWorks and SolidWorks Electrical\nStrong understanding of electrical system-level design\nAbility to design for rapid prototyping and fabrication in a dynamic environment\nU.S. Citizen with a Final Secret clearance, or eligibility to obtain and maintain one\nResident of, or willing to relocate to, the Huntsville, AL area\nYou’ll stand out if you\nHave side projects you’re proud of, such as custom PCBs, RF experiments, robotics, power supplies, or test fixtures, and can show them off\nAre as comfortable with a soldering iron and scope as with a CAD station\nHave designed power, data, and RF systems, including 3-phase, split-phase, and DC power\nRead and draw electrical schematics and cable diagrams, and know some fiber optic communications\nHave used KiCAD, Mentor DxDesigner, Altium, OrCAD, or similar, plus 2D/3D CAD like SolidWorks, SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD, or Visio\nUnderstand basic mechanical concepts well enough to work smoothly with mechanical designers\nCan document designs, assist with Technical Data Packages (TDPs), and support production and test\nHold an active Secret clearance or higher\nShow us what you’ve built.
