This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT) contract, the Department of the Navy's largest IT services contract. Under SMIT, Leidos delivers and sustains the backbone of the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), providing services such as network site infrastructure design, network architecture, configuration management, and digital engineering. The successful candidate will support the NSD team in designing, documenting, and supporting the implementation of critical network infrastructure solutions that enable naval operations worldwide, while gaining exposure to modern digital engineering methodologies, including Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).\nPrimary Responsibilities\nSupport the development and review of change requests for network site designs and associated technical documentation for infrastructure projects across multiple naval installations\nAssist with network site topology design and documentation, including site layout development, network device placement, and logical/physical topology diagrams\nWork with the Active Bill of Materials (ABOM) to track network equipment, validate component specifications, and maintain accurate inventory records for site implementations\nParticipate in network architecture planning activities, including site connectivity design, routing protocols, and network segmentation strategies\nCollaborate with network architects and engineers to develop site-specific designs that align with enterprise architecture standards and best practices\nSupport the preparation of network design templates in Cameo Systems Modeler and help ensure compliance with NSD procedures and standards\nAssist with site survey validations, network solution assessments, and evaluations for infrastructure upgrade projects\nParticipate in digital engineering initiatives, including curating designs in Cameo Systems Modeler and learning MBSE methodologies for network architecture modeling\nContribute to the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), network design documentation, and technical guides for site topology standards\nHelp process implementation feedback from field teams and support post-deployment validation activities\nVerify data integrity of network device inventories, site topology databases, and ABOM records\nAttend team meetings and collaborate with network engineering, operations, and quality assurance teams\nBasic Qualifications\nCurrently enrolled in an accredited bachelor's or master's degree program in Engineering (any discipline), Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related technical field\nCumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale\nTechnical knowledge or coursework in one or more of the following areas: network design and architecture, systems engineering, database management, or IT infrastructure\nStrong attention to detail and the ability to follow technical procedures accurately\nEffective written and verbal communication skills\nAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment\nU.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with database management, data analysis, or configuration management tools\nKnowledge of network infrastructure components (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, wireless access points)\nUnderstanding of network topologies and site connectivity architectures\nFamiliarity with Bill of Materials (BOM) processes and inventory management systems\nExposure to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts or tools (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, SysML, Teamwork Cloud)\nUnderstanding of IT service management frameworks or processes\nExperience with network diagramming tools (e.g., Microsoft Visio or similar)\nExperience with Microsoft 365 (Office, SharePoint, Teams) or similar collaboration platforms\nCoursework or projects involving network architecture, network design, site planning, or infrastructure topology\nInterest in pursuing a career in network engineering, network architecture, or IT infrastructure design\nPrevious internship or co-op experience in a technical or networking environment\nIf you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
