The Platform Engineer Team Lead position is one of the key technical leadership roles on the team. You will have the opportunity to be the Lead Engineer for major development projects related to data & analytics solutions and platforms. The first project this role will be responsible as Lead Engineer is development of the next generation Internal Developer Platform (IDP) supporting to delivery of Defensive Cyber Capabilities to the customer.\nYou will be working in a challenging, fast-paced, highly collaborative and rewarding environment, as a member of product and project teams that work closely with each other and with our business partners to deliver innovative and industry-leading business solutions.\nOn-Site Requirement:\nThe position requires on-site presence at Joint Base San Antonio.\n Key Tasks\nLead, mentor, and develop a team of platform engineers supporting enterprise software delivery platforms\nEstablish platform engineering roadmaps, standards, and best practices.\nCoordinate platform initiatives across development, operations, security, and architecture teams.\nDrive continuous improvement efforts focused on automation, reliability, scalability, and developer productivity.\nDesign, implement, and maintain cloud-native platforms using AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, and container technologies.\nDevelop reusable platform services and self-service capabilities for application teams.\nManage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools.\nEnsure platform scalability, resiliency and operational efficiency.\nLead implementation and governance of enterprise CI/CD pipelines.\nEstablish automated build, test, security scanning, compliance validation and deployment processes.\nImplement GitOps practices and deployment automation strategies.\nIntegrate security controls and policy enforcement into delivery pipelines.\nImplement and maintain observability solutions, including logging, monitoring, tracing, and alerting.\nEstablish automated recovery, rollback, and incident response capabilities.\nMonitor platform health, availability, and performance metrics.\nSupport production operations and reliability engineering initiatives.\nEnsure platform solutions comply with organizational security and regulatory requirements.\nSupport RMF, audit, and compliance initiatives through automated evidence collection and reporting.\nEnforce platform governance, access controls and operational guardrails.\nMaintain documentation, standards and operational procedures.\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.\n8+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Systems Engineering or related technical roles.\n3+ years of experience leading technical teams or engineering initiatives.\nExperience designing and supporting CI/CD pipelines and automated software delivery processes.\nExperience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker or other container orchestration technologies.\nExperience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform.\nExperience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.\nKnowledge of DevSecOps principles, automation and software delivery best practices.\nExperience implementing monitoring, logging and observability solutions.\nStrong problem-solving, communication and leadership skills.\n Preferred Qualifications\nExperience leading enterprise platform engineering or developer platform initiatives.\nExperience implementing GitOps solutions such as ArgoCD or Flux.\nExperience supporting federal, defense or highly regulated environments.\nKnowledge of RMF, NIST, Zero Trust or compliance-driven software delivery practices.\nExperience with platform governance, policy-as-code and automated compliance validation.\nExperience implementing Kubernetes-based developer platforms or Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs).\nExperience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices and operational excellence programs.\nProfessional certifications such as:\nAWS Certified Solutions Architect\nAWS Certified DevOps Engineer\nCertified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)\nCertified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)\nTerraform Associate\nSecurity+\nExperience mentoring engineers and building high-performing technical teams.\nExperience driving cloud modernization and enterprise DevSecOps transformation initiatives\nIf you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
