PSPD supports the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and CBP critical missions, specifically screening and processing travelers at the ports of entry (POEs) into the United States.\nIn this hands-on position, you will work collaboratively to architect, design, build, deliver, and enhance highly available, scalable, real-time systems. You will exercise your judgment in determining and recommending the best designs based on customer business objectives, timelines and other resource constraints. You will participate in and/or direct major deliverable of projects through all aspects of the software development life cycle including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding and unit and integration testing.\n**This position REQUIRES the candidate to be in Ashburn, VA, 2 times a week**\nPrimary Responsibilities:\nPerforms technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and support ability and effectiveness analyzes.\n\nDesigns and implements database schemas and structures according to project requirements.\n\nDevelops and maintains documentation for database environments, including data standards and procedures.\n\nPlans for storage requirements and database growth, and scale infrastructure as needed.\n\nCollaborates with developers to optimize queries, stored procedures, and database design for applications.\n\nMust be a self-starter, strong leader, and the ability to work independently with little supervision.\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBS/BA degree and 8+ years of prior relevant DBA experience or Masters with 6+ years of prior relevant DBA experience; OR 4 years of experience in lieu of degree\n\n4+ years’ experience tuning Aurora PostgreSQL database performance and PL/pgSQL scripts to optimize performance\n\n4+ years’ experience as an AWS Aurora PostgreSQL DBA in a 24x7 environment managing multiple databases of over 70TB.\n\nIndividual must have at least 4+ years’ experience as an Oracle DBA in a 24x7 environment supporting databases of over 200TB\n\nProficiency in tuning Oracle Databases and troubleshooting performance issues.\n\nAble to support on-call schedule and incident resolution.\n\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, & PowerPoint)\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills\n\nU.S. Citizen.\n\nMust be able to maintain and obtain a CBP Background Investigation prior to start\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\nMigration of Oracle to Aurora PostgreSQL with over 70TB migrating from Oracle to Aurora\n\nExperience using Generative AI to tune SQL statements\n\nExperience with CBP\n\nJava Experience\n\nExperience with other AWS data related services\n\nExperience with any of the following: Struts, Hibernate, Java, JSF, Swing, JavaScript, Bootstrap, Angular.\n\nExperience with CI/CD, SecDevOps, Git source code repository (GitLab, GitHub)\n\nIf you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
