RHEL server administration is not a part of this role, except for RHEL servers used to manage RHEL workstations.\nCreate, maintain, test, and deploy software packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) client applications, including managing application configurations and software lifecycle requirements.\nDevelop and maintain automation scripts using RHEL-supported languages, including Bash, Python, and YAML, to streamline application installations, system configurations, and software deployments.\nBuild, test, deploy, and maintain RHEL operating system images, ensuring compatibility with NEST-supported hardware and compliance with required applications, drivers, security patches, software versions, and system configurations.\nDevelop and execute test plans for client applications, new endpoint hardware, operating system deployments, and software updates.\nUtilize and maintain endpoint management tools, including Red Hat Satellite and HCL BigFix, to deploy applications and updates, monitor deployment status, and maintain software inventory across RHEL clients.\nManage operating system and software patching activities, including packaging, testing, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting to ensure NEST-managed RHEL endpoints remain current and compliant.\nMonitor and maintain Red Hat Satellite, internal patch and software repositories, and the NEST-managed Linux Unified Key Setup (LUKS) disk encryption system.\nManage software licensing and registration for NEST-supported RHEL clients and Red Hat Satellite servers, ensuring compliance with applicable licensing requirements.\nProvide Tier 3 technical support for complex RHEL operating system, application, and endpoint management issues, including installation failures, patching errors, and system configuration problems.\nCollaborate with vendors to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, monitor product roadmaps, and implement approved product changes and enhancements.\nDevelop and maintain technical documentation, including software packaging procedures, as-built configurations, testing results, knowledge articles, and operational processes.\nProvide technical guidance and process training to NEST Tier 2 technicians, end users, and other relevant stakeholders.\nParticipate in cross-functional project teams to implement new services and service enhancements aligned with the NEST innovation roadmap.\nResolve incidents and fulfill service requests in accordance with established program processes and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for incident resolution, request fulfillment, and service availability.\nProvide regular written and verbal status updates on operational activities, system performance, deployment progress, and technical issues.\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent and 6+ years of relevant experience.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.\nExperience administering and managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating systems and software.\nExperience creating, maintaining, and deploying RHEL operating system images and software packages.\nExperience administering and supporting Linux Unified Key Setup (LUKS) disk encryption.\nExperience using HCL BigFix to deploy Linux software updates and security patches.\nExperience developing scripts to automate Linux system management tasks.\nAbility to work effectively in a remote environment while maintaining strong communication and collaboration with peers, leadership, customers, vendors, and project stakeholders.\nReliable internet connection and a suitable remote workspace conducive to complex technical assignments and virtual meetings.\nMust reside within a reasonable commuting distance of a NASA operating center and be available to provide onsite support as required.\nCLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:\nU.S. Citizenship is required.\nAbility to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nITIL Foundation certification\nA current certification in a relevant field or technology.\nThe anticipated salary range for this position is approximately $75,000-$85,000 annually.\nIf you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
