This is a hybrid position requiring regular on-site presence in Reston, with flexibility to work remotely based on program and mission requirements.\nThis is a customer facing role and selected candidates will be required to present and demo Leidos Cloud platforms, facilitate technical exchange meetings, and provide engineering updates directly to leadership and external customers.\nThe selected candidate will support multiple federal and Department of Defense (DoD) programs, including InSight Mission Cloud, by developing secure, scalable, and repeatable cloud solutions. The position requires strong technical experience in cloud engineering, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, DevSecOps, and cloud operations.\nThe ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys hands-on engineering, can manage multiple technical priorities, troubleshoot complex issues, collaborate with customers and technical teams, and mentor junior engineers.\nPrimary Responsibilities:\nCloud Engineering: Design, deploy, configure, and sustain secure cloud and hybrid infrastructure, primarily across AWS and Azure, with additional support for OCI and GCP environments.\nInfrastructure as Code and Automation: Develop and maintain reusable Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, and other automation solutions for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and repeatable deployments.\nContainerization and Kubernetes: Deploy, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain containerized applications and orchestration platforms, including Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, and Azure AKS.\nDevSecOps and CI/CD: Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot automated build and deployment pipelines using GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, and related technologies.\nCloud Security and Compliance: Implement secure cloud configurations, identity and access controls, encryption, vulnerability remediation, and automated security scanning aligned with NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP, DoD STIGs, and applicable federal requirements.\nCloud Operations and Sustainment: Support day-to-day operations, patching, monitoring, incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis across mission-critical cloud environments.\nCloud Modernization: Support application migrations, cloud landing zones, infrastructure modernization, virtualization, and hybrid cloud integration.\nMonitoring and Logging: Configure and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, and related enterprise tools.\nTechnical Documentation: Develop architecture diagrams, deployment procedures, automation scripts, operational runbooks, and standard operating procedures.\nTechnical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, participate in engineering reviews, support complex troubleshooting, and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.\nCross-Program Support: Collaborate with MDEC engineers, program teams, customers, and vendors to deliver technical solutions across multiple federal and DoD programs.\nCandidates must facilitate communication between stakeholders and lead engineering discussions.\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a master's degree with 6+ years of experience. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.\n5+ years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, administering, and supporting cloud infrastructure.\nStrong experience with AWS and/or Azure, including hands-on engineering in at least one platform and working knowledge of a second cloud platform.\nExperience developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, or similar technologies.\nExperience implementing and supporting CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or equivalent tools.\nHands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud-managed container platforms such as EKS or AKS.\nStrong understanding of cloud networking, including VPCs, VNets, subnets, routing, firewalls, security groups, load balancers, and VPN connectivity.\nExperience administering and troubleshooting Linux and Windows Server environments.\nExperience scripting and automating tasks using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages.\nUnderstanding of cloud security, IAM, vulnerability management, encryption, logging, and monitoring.\nExperience troubleshooting cloud infrastructure, networking, and platform issues in operational environments.\nAbility to work independently, manage competing priorities, and support multiple engineering efforts.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, including experience working with customers, engineers, and technical leadership.\nMust reside within commuting distance of Reston, VA and be able to support a hybrid work schedule.\nClearance Requirements:\nActive DoD Top Secret (TS) clearance with the ability to obtain SCI eligibility prior to the start date, or an active TS/SCI clearance.\nAbility to meet additional security and access requirements associated with assigned programs.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, or federal government cloud environments.\nHands-on experience with AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, OCI Government, or other regulated cloud environments.\nExperience supporting DoD Impact Levels IL4, IL5, or IL6.\nExperience with multi-cloud environments, shared cloud services, cloud landing zones, and managed cloud offerings.\nExperience with cloud migration, application modernization, and hybrid cloud architectures.\nFamiliarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF), Authority to Operate (ATO), NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP, and DISA STIG requirements.\nExperience with security and vulnerability management tools such as Tenable, Splunk, Prisma Cloud, or equivalent solutions.\nExperience with Infrastructure as Code security scanning, configuration compliance, and automated remediation.\nRelevant cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, AWS SysOps Administrator, Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent.\nSecurity+ CE, CISSP, or other relevant DoD 8140-aligned certifications.\nExperience mentoring junior engineers and serving as a technical lead on cloud engineering efforts.\nIf you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
