This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) migrate and modernize the database supporting its legacy Contact Center CRM Services (CCCS) platform.\nPrimary Responsibilities\nThe Senior DBA shall lead database architecture, migration, and operational support activities for the CCCS modernization effort.\nResponsibilities shall include, but are not limited to:\nLead database architecture and administration supporting migration from the legacy Oracle Siebel database to the modernized AWS PostgreSQL (RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL) environment.\nPartner with the Data Migration Lead and Data Modeler to profile, analyze, and document the legacy Siebel data model supporting migration planning.\nSupport design and development of data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes leveraging AWS Glue, PySpark, and AWS DMS to move data from Siebel/Oracle to AWS PostgreSQL staging and production environments.\nSupport the Data Migration Workbook by documenting data quality issues, mapping rules, and transformation logic for historical and Change Data Capture (CDC) migration.\nAdminister and tune databases and support to meet the 99.9% data migration accuracy threshold and validate reconciliation results across all migrated records.\nSupport database performance monitoring, tuning, and capacity planning to meet system availability (≥99.9%) and scalability requirements.\nDesign and implement database backup, recovery, and Multi-AZ/Multi-Region resilience strategies to support disaster recovery and business continuity.\nSupport integration between the Pega CRM database, the National Data Warehouse (NDW), and other CMS shared systems.\nSupport the Amazon Redshift and Aurora environments, including any migration or integration activities impacting these systems.\nImplement database security controls, including encryption at rest and in transit, role-based access control (RBAC), and continuous monitoring in alignment with FedRAMP Moderate and CMS security requirements.\nSupport database configuration management and change control, ensuring all database changes are documented, tested, and CMS-approved.\nPartner with the Chief Architect and program team to align database design decisions with the overall CCCS technical architecture and data ownership/portability objectives.\nSupport database-related Definition of Done criteria, ensuring database changes are unit tested, integrated, and validated prior to release.\nTroubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, defects, and data quality issues, supporting production operations.\nSupport cutover planning, rehearsal, and final production migration validation, ensuring zero operational disruption during go-live.\nDocument database architecture, data models, and operational procedures to support requirements traceability and the Transition-Out Plan.\nMentor and provide technical guidance to Data Modelers and ETL Developers on database design, performance tuning, and migration best practices.\nCommunicate technical status, risks, and dependencies related to database architecture and data migration to CMS leadership, and Leidos management.\nSupport Sprint Review demonstrations and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities related to data migration and database functionality.\nActively participate in planning sessions, requirements gathering activities, design sessions, Agile ceremonies, and other events supporting the CRM modernization effort.\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8-10 years of relevant database administration experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience\nExperience administering and tuning Oracle and PostgreSQL (RDS/Aurora) databases in a highly available, production environment in AWS\nExperience with large-scale, complex data migrations, including data profiling, mapping, transformation, and reconciliation\nExperience with AWS data services (e.g., AWS Glue, AWS DMS, S3, RDS/Aurora, Redshift) supporting data integration and migration pipelines\nAbility to obtain Public Trust\nPreferred Qualifications:\nAWS Certified Database - Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification\nExperience supporting Pega Platform database architecture\nExperience with Change Data Capture (CDC) and near-real-time data synchronization techniques\nExperience with FedRAMP-authorized cloud environments and Zero Trust security principles\nExperience with Agile/Scrum or SAFe delivery methodologies\nExperience supporting CMS or other federal health/human services modernization programs; experience with contact center or CRM platforms a plus\nIf you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
