Our Mission, Vision, and Values guide how we do business.\nThe Mission Enablement Center (MDEC) is seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to support its Cloud Engineering team. This hands-on position supports the design, deployment, automation, security, and sustainment of cloud and hybrid infrastructure across Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).\nThe selected candidate will support multiple federal and Department of Defense (DoD) programs, including MDEC's InSight Mission Cloud offering, by developing secure, scalable, and repeatable cloud solutions. The role requires a strong technical background in cloud engineering, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), DevSecOps, automation, containerization, and cloud operations.\nThe ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work independently, manage multiple technical priorities, troubleshoot complex issues, collaborate with customers and vendors, and mentor junior engineers while supporting mission-critical environments.\nPrimary Responsibilities\nCloud Engineering: Design, deploy, configure, and sustain secure cloud and hybrid infrastructure across AWS, Azure, OCI, and GCP, including compute, networking, storage, identity, and supporting platform services.\nDevOps and Automation: Develop, implement, and maintain Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar tools to support automated infrastructure and application deployments.\nInfrastructure as Code: Develop and maintain reusable Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, and other automation solutions to standardize cloud deployments, configuration management, and infrastructure provisioning.\nContainerization: Deploy, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain containerized applications and orchestration platforms, including Docker, Kubernetes, and related cloud-native technologies.\nCloud Security and Compliance: Implement secure cloud configurations, access controls, encryption, vulnerability remediation, and automated security scanning aligned with NIST, FedRAMP, DoD STIGs, and applicable federal security requirements.\nCloud Operations and Sustainment: Support day-to-day cloud operations, infrastructure maintenance, patching, performance monitoring, incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis to maintain reliable and secure environments.\nCloud Modernization: Support cloud migrations, landing zone deployments, application modernization, virtualization, and hybrid cloud integration across customer environments.\nMonitoring and Logging: Configure and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using cloud-native services and enterprise tools such as CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.\nTechnical Documentation: Develop architecture diagrams, deployment procedures, automation scripts, operational runbooks, and technical documentation to support repeatable engineering and operational sustainment.\nTechnical Leadership and Mentorship: Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, participate in engineering reviews, support troubleshooting efforts, and contribute to continuous improvement of cloud engineering standards and practices.\nRequired Experience, Skills, and Education\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline with 12++ years of relevant experience, or a master's degree with 10+ years of experience. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.\n7+ years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, administering, and supporting cloud infrastructure in AWS, Azure, OCI, or GCP, with strong proficiency in at least two major cloud platforms.\nDemonstrated experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, or equivalent technologies.\nHands-on experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.\nExperience deploying and managing containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, or equivalent container orchestration platforms.\nStrong understanding of cloud networking, including Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), virtual networks, subnets, routing, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and network security controls.\nExperience supporting Linux and Windows Server environments, including system administration, patching, troubleshooting, and secure configuration.\nProficiency with scripting and automation using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages.\nKnowledge of cloud security, identity and access management, vulnerability management, encryption, logging, monitoring, and secure infrastructure design.\nExperience troubleshooting complex cloud infrastructure, networking, application, and platform issues in production environments.\nFamiliarity with monitoring and logging tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work directly with customers, technical teams, vendors, and program leadership.\nAbility to work independently, manage competing priorities, support multiple programs, and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.\nClearance Required\nActive DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance, or an active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI eligibility prior to the start date.\nAbility to complete any additional investigations or security requirements associated with assigned programs.\nPreferred Experience, Skills, and Certifications\nExperience supporting DoD, or other federal government cloud environments.\nExperience with AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, OCI Government, or other regulated cloud environments supporting DoD Impact Levels (IL4, IL5, or IL6).\nExperience supporting enterprise cloud platforms, shared services, multi-cloud environments, or managed cloud offerings.\nExperience with cloud landing zones, cloud migration, infrastructure modernization, and hybrid cloud architectures.\nFamiliarity with the Risk Management Framework (RMF), Authority to Operate (ATO) processes, NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP, and DISA STIG requirements.\nExperience with cloud security tools such as Tenable, Prisma Cloud, Wiz, AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, AWS Config, or equivalent technologies.\nExperience supporting technical solution development, cloud architecture reviews, Bills of Materials (BOMs), Rough Orders of Magnitude (ROMs), or proposal activities.\nExperience conducting technical briefings, design reviews, and customer-facing engineering discussions.\nCompTIA Security+ or higher applicable IAT Level II certification.\nAWS, Azure, OCI, GCP, Terraform, or Kubernetes professional certifications preferred.\nIf you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
