You will work closely with in-house engineers and the wider Leidos cross-functional teams to ensure that the tools and equipment are designed to meet quality, efficiency, and safety standards.\nRoles & Responsibilities:\nLead, collaborate and innovate to create detailed tooling designs, including fixtures, jigs, clamps, and other specialized equipment required for manufacturing processes.\n\nLead a team of in-house UK / Indian engineers and/or sub-contract labor throughout the design process.\n\nAgree project timing and priorities with Engineering Manager / Technical Lead.\n\nDelegate assignments to the Engineering Project team.\n\nSupport ongoing review and management of technical project progress.\n\nProducing regular progress reports as required by Engineering Manager / Technical Lead.\n\nWork closely with other team leaders/members in the Engineering Department to share knowledge and ensure best practice.\n\nAssist Engineering Manager / Technical Lead with scheduling of projects/resources as required.\n\nCollate information for operation and maintenance manuals.\n\nComplete transmittal documents and send them to other departments as per the internal transmittal system.\n\nProvide out of hours support/leadership as required.\n\nLeading and engagement with remote teams in UK and across the world.\n\nEnsuring no fault forward engineering output philosophy is strictly adhered to.\n\nProduce scheme drawings and layouts for evaluation against customer specifications.\n\nProduce 3D models\n\nProduce detailed mechanical manufacturing drawings.\n\nEvaluate basic designs through power and stress calculations, and for cost effectiveness and ease of manufacture and maintenance.\n\nComplete stress analysis (FEA), design risk assessments (DRA), and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA).\n\nWork to Company procedures and specific instructions at all times.\n\nKnowledge of Pneumatics.\n\nEnsure that work is completed within the hours and deadlines agreed with the Engineering Manager / Technical Lead.\n\nHighlight all constraints/issues that may impact on engineering deadlines and project timing plans.\n\nIdentify and immediately communicate any engineering constraints/issues to Engineering Manager / Technical Lead.\n\nAttend regular project and design reviews and provide accurate feedback on timings and completion of work to Engineering Manager / Technical Lead and projects team.\n\nIdentify and highlight areas where additional support may be required to ensure timely and accurate completion of work.\n\nComplete CCARs on all occasions where timing plans/engineering hours are affected in line with Company procedures.\n\nContinually build relationships with internal stakeholders to achieve the successful completion of projects.\n\nProvide engineering support in the development of schemes and specifications for sales quotations and bid returns.\n\nProvide engineering support during manufacturing and installation as required.\n\nComplete site surveys at customer facilities and attend customer-led meetings as required.\n\nSupport all Departments and the Company at a wider capacity as required to achieve successful delivery of projects.\n\nFollow Group and Company policies and procedures at all times.\n\nUse all Company equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with Company procedures.\n\nReport all health and safety issues and concerns to your line manager and/or a Health and Safety Representative in a timely and professional manner.\n\nFamiliarize oneself with and adhere to the Company’s Equality Policy at all times.\n\nAll employees must conduct themselves in accordance with our Corporate Company Values and Business Ethics at all times.\n\nMay be required to work out of our UK sites for several weeks at a time.\n\nLeidos are a global operator and therefore UK and Global travel will be required.\n\nWork overtime as necessary to achieve deadlines.\n\nRequirements:\nProven experience in Automotive Tooling or Mechanical Handling.\n\nManufacturing Automation methods and processes.\n\nValue for money and current market value.\n\nSupplier base knowledge.\n\nUnderstanding of project costs - design, management, manufacture, installation etc.\n\nTime served apprenticeship or equivalent experience.\n\nHNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.\n\nHighly Organised & self-motivated.\n\nExcellent interpersonal skills.\n\nSound understanding of MS Office packages.\n\nProficient in Solidworks / AutoCAD / Inventor.\n\nTeam player.\n\nGood technical literacy skills.\n\nAdaptable & flexible.\n\nDesirable:\nExperience using Catia.\n\nKnowledge of current industry Materials Handling systems best practice for automotive & general industry.\n\nDegree in Mechanical Engineering.\n\nIf you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
