As a core team member, you will be interacting with other electric utility disciplines, playing a valuable part in leading and designing microgrid and renewable energy projects.\nWhat you’ll be doing:\nUtilize familiarity with microgrid control systems and automation technologies, such as supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, energy management systems (EMS), Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Remote Terminal Units (RTUs).\nApply understanding of microgrid concepts, including islanding operation, grid-connected operation, energy management, control strategies, and power flow management within a microgrid system.\nParticipate in Functional Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT).\nPerform Hardware in the Loop (HIL) testing.\nDemonstrate knowledge of various renewable energy technologies such as solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, wind turbines, batteries, and other distributed energy resources (DERs).\nUse experience with power electronics and their application in renewable energy systems and microgrids, including inverters, converters, and other power electronic devices to interface and control DERs.\nPerform planning and engineering in support of telecommunication systems and telecommunication projects.\nEstablish project schedules and budgets.\nDevelop drawings and specifications for utility telecommunication system projects.\nCoordinate with other internal engineering departments, external contractors, and utility construction crews.\nTravel to project sites to collect information on existing conditions.\nDemonstrate proficiency in CAD software for electrical system design, simulation tools for modeling and analysis, and programming languages commonly used in microgrid control systems.\nApply knowledge of commonly utilized communication protocols (DNP, SEL, MMS, Modbus, etc.).\nUtilize experience with Protection & Control design concepts, including one-lines, three-lines, schematics, wiring, etc.\nUse experience with commonly utilized system modeling software programs (ASPEN, CAPE, CYME, ETAP, SKM, etc.).\nEmploy experience with DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61131 Programming, AcSELerator RTAC, SEL 5030 Quickset, GE Cimplicity, and Protocol Test Software preferred.\nWhat does Leidos need from me?\nBachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with four to eight plus years of related microgrid experience.\nStrong knowledge of microgrids and renewable energy.\nPower system Protection and Control (P&C) experience.\nAbility to quickly learn and effectively use a variety of client software applications and databases.\nProficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook.\nAbility to occasionally perform field work in rough terrain to access remote project locations.\nFavorable if you have:\nFundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification.\nMaster’s degree in a related field.\nIn this role, you can expect to grow:\nTechnical and non-technical training.\nInterface with utility clients.\nLeadership Opportunities.\nMentorship and training Opportunities.\nIf you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
