The position requires technical expertise, independent problem-solving, and the ability to develop effective solutions to complex network challenges involving multiple technologies and technical disciplines. The successful candidate will collaborate with customer stakeholders, engineering teams, cybersecurity professionals, and program leadership to maintain network availability, performance, and security while supporting infrastructure modernization and evolving mission requirements. This role also provides technical guidance to other engineers and contributes to network architecture, engineering standards, and continuous operational improvement.\nCLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:\nMust have or able to obtain a Public Trust clearance; Must be a US Citizen.\nPRIMARY RESPONSBILITIES:\nServe as a Senior technical and escalation resource for complex network engineering and operational issues affecting mission-critical enterprise infrastructure.\nLead the planning, design, implementation, and optimization of complex network infrastructure solutions across geographically distributed, multi-vendor environments.\nIndependently analyze complex technical challenges involving multiple systems and disciplines, develop engineering solutions, and implement corrective actions that improve network reliability, performance, and security.\nDesign, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise routing and switching infrastructure, including BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VRFs, routing redundancy, and network failover.\nEngineer and support enterprise network security solutions, including Cisco Firepower, Firepower Management Center (FMC), ASA, firewall policies, access controls, and security hardening.\nDesign, implement, and sustain secure site-to-site and remote-access VPN solutions, including Cisco Secure Client/AnyConnect and connectivity with external partners and vendors.\nEngineer and maintain hybrid cloud network connectivity integrating on-premises infrastructure with AWS networking services, including VPCs, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, and load balancing.\nSupport enterprise wireless networking and network access control technologies, including Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).\nLead technical planning and execution of network infrastructure upgrades, modernization initiatives, lifecycle replacements, and security remediation activities.\nEvaluate network performance, availability, capacity, and emerging technical requirements; recommend and implement improvements to strengthen service delivery and operational resilience.\nLead complex incident investigations and root cause analysis, identifying systemic issues and developing sustainable corrective and preventive solutions.\nCollaborate with customer representatives, program leadership, cybersecurity teams, vendors, and service providers to assess requirements, develop technical solutions, and influence network engineering decisions.\nDevelop and maintain network architecture documentation, configuration standards, technical implementation plans, and operational procedures.\nSupport incident, problem, change, and service request management processes while ensuring technical accuracy, documentation, and operational accountability.\nProvide technical mentorship, peer review, and engineering guidance to junior and mid-level network engineers.\nIdentify opportunities for network automation, standardization, and process improvement to increase operational efficiency, reliability, and security.\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:\nBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field with 8+ years of relevant network engineering experience; additional education and experience equivalencies may be considered.\nAdvanced hands-on experience designing, implementing, administering, and troubleshooting complex enterprise network infrastructure in production environments.\nExpert-level knowledge of enterprise routing and switching technologies, including BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VRFs, and network redundancy and failover.\nDemonstrated experience developing and implementing technical solutions to complex network problems involving multiple systems, technologies, or engineering disciplines.\nHands-on experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise network security infrastructure, including firewalls, access control policies, and VPN connectivity.\nExperience supporting Cisco and/or Juniper enterprise networking platforms in complex, multi-vendor environments.\nExperience designing, implementing, or supporting hybrid cloud network connectivity between on-premises infrastructure and AWS environments.\nDemonstrated experience independently leading complex network troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action efforts.\nExperience planning and executing network infrastructure changes, upgrades, and security remediation activities in production environments.\nDemonstrated ability to develop technical recommendations, communicate complex technical information, and collaborate with customer stakeholders, engineering teams, vendors, and service providers.\nExperience producing and maintaining network diagrams, technical documentation, configuration standards, and implementation procedures.\nStrong communication skills, with experience collaborating directly with customers, vendors, and ISPs to support network design, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.\nHands-on experience with Juniper EX/QFX & Junos OS, Cisco ISR & IOS devices, ASA, Firepower & FMC.\nDemonstrated experience with routing/switching protocols (e.g., BGP, `OSPF, VRF) and core infrastructure services.\nHands-on experience managing AWS network infrastructure and hybrid cloud connectivity (e.g., VPC, direct-connect, transit gateways, load balancers) between on-prem and cloud environments.\nExperience with remote access VPN solutions, including Cisco AnyConnect/Secure Client configuration and support.\nExperience with virtual computing/virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware/vSphere) as they relate to network design and connectivity.\nExperience with wireless infrastructure and NAC solutions (e.g., Cisco ISE).\nExperience with Cisco CUCM/UC voice solutions.\n\nAble to obtain a baseline 8140 certification [(IAT Level II) CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP] within 90 days.\n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nCisco Certified CCNA\nCisco Certified CCNP or Juniper JNCIP-ENT.\nExperience with Cisco Meraki wireless solutions.\nExperience with Cisco ISE.\nExperience with Dell switches and OS10.\nExperience with ServiceNow.\nSecurity+ CE certification.\nIf you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
