You will support the evolution of a mature and widely used platform by enhancing backend modules, improving system reliability, and implementing new features in collaboration with Navy partners.\nWhen program needs and funding align, you may also have opportunities to contribute to other Tactical Signature Guidance (TSG) systems -providing exposure to state-of-the-art technologies that directly support the development of advanced sonar tactical decision aids (TDAs).\nAt Leidos, we empower our engineers to do meaningful work while continually building new skills to grow the career they want to achieve.\nWhat You’ll Work On\n Develop and enhance server-side frameworks and modules for a web-based Learning Management System (LMS), including Java Servlets, JSPs, Tomcat integration, data parsing, and backend workflow logic.\nManipulate XML and JSON structures to support LMS configuration, data exchange, and system automation.\nUse ANT and Gradle in build and deployment pipelines supporting LMS environments.\nWork across both Linux (RHEL/Bash) and Windows (shell scripting) operational environments.\nLearn and apply new programming languages and technologies, with mentorship and support from experienced teammates.\nOccasionally support hardware system configuration and build-out, gaining exposure to full system integration.\nThis opportunity is ideal for developers who thrive on solving complex problems, want to expand their technical expertise, and are motivated by work that directly supports the U.S. Navy’s operational readiness.\nPrimary Responsibilities\nWork collaboratively in an agile team environment supporting a large-scale program.\nOwn and deliver backend software solutions in Java SE, Servlets, JSP, and related LMS technologies.\nMaintain and extend server-side LMS modules running in servlet containers such as Apache Tomcat.\nImplement parser logic using JavaScript and apply HTML5 concepts where needed in LMS workflows.\nManipulate XML and JSON files in support of LMS configuration and data integration.\nUtilize ANT and Gradle build tools for compiling, packaging, and deploying workflows.\nWork in both RHEL Linux and Windows environments, including Bash and Windows shell scripting.\nBasic Qualifications\nEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field that provides strong software development skills.\nExperience: Around 5 years of hands-on experience in one or more of the following:Designing and developing real-time acoustic signal processing algorithms\nBuilding parallel processing solutions\nWorking with microservices\nDeveloping software for signal processing, real-time data analysis, or visualization/simulationsystems\nDeveloping Java-based server frameworks or web application backends using Java SE, Java Servlets, JSP, XML/JSON manipulation, and related technologies\n\nClearance: Must be able to obtain a U.S. security clearance.\nCertification: Must be willing to earn an IAT Level I (or higher) certification after hire (company-supported).\nPreferred Qualifications\nFamiliarity with parser development or extending JSP libraries for dynamic content.\nExperience in integrating Java backend services with web front-end frameworks.\nIf you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
