In this role, you will serve as the team’s primary software-focused engineer within a small, multidisciplinary government engineering team that includes aerospace/mechanical engineers and aerial delivery equipment specialists.\nAbout the Role\nAs a Software Test & Integration Engineer, you will take technical ownership of software-related challenges, independently drive issues to resolution, support hands-on flight testing, and collaborate effectively across government, contractor, operational, and test organizations. Much of the work will focus on maintaining and evolving an established government-owned software codebase developed over the past decade.\nKey Responsibilities\nFlight Test & Field Operations Support\nTravel to drop zones and test ranges for flight test and demonstration events (typically 1-2 weeks per trip)\nSet up, configure, and operate ground stations and telemetry equipment in field environments\nConduct pre-drop software and system checks; assist with rigging, load buildup, and aircraft loading\nRecover and validate flight data using software tools; deliver quick-look analyses to support go/no-go decisions\nTroubleshoot software and integration issues under tight timelines and austere field conditions\nSoftware Integration Support\nServe as the primary software engineering subject matter expert for the Cargo Aerial Delivery team\nDevelop and execute software test procedures; investigate failures from lab, ground, and flight testing\nOperate integration test benches, software-in-the-loop (SIL), and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems\nMaintain, adapt, and develop internal tools including telemetry/flight-log parsers, post-drop analysis scripts, ground station utilities, and basic imagery analysis tools\nSupport broader engineering efforts as needed, including tasks outside traditional software roles\nCybersecurity Support\nAct as the technical focal point for Cyber Working Groups (CWG) and Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities\nPrepare cybersecurity documentation supporting Annual Security Reviews and Authorizations to Operate\nRun and interpret vulnerability scans; triage findings, propose remediation plans, and track them to closure\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 4+ years of experience (additional experience/training/certifications may substitute for a degree)\nUS Citizenship; ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC)\nProven abilities with Python and/or C/C++ programming languages and software development\nStrong working knowledge in several of the following:Git/GitLab workflows\nSoftware configuration management and version control\n\nSoftware integration, debugging, and troubleshooting\n\nSoftware verification and testing\n\nLinux command-line environments\n\nEmbedded software or firmware\n\nSoftware/hardware integration\n\nReading and analyzing software logs and telemetry\n\nProven ability to communicate technical information clearly across diverse technical teams\nWillingness to travel up to 25% depending on program needs\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with embedded systems, avionics, robotics, autonomous systems, aerospace systems, or other software-intensive physical systems\nExperience in developmental or operational test environments\nHands-on troubleshooting experience in field or lab environments\nExperience reviewing source code or conducting merge request/code reviews\nPython experience developing data-processing or engineering analysis tools\nExperience working with government engineering teams or DoD programs\nFamiliarity with DoD cybersecurity requirements and RMF processes\nAWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or equivalent cloud experience\nStrong analytical, technical, and communication skills\nAbility to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams\nReady to make an impact?
