This position combines hands-on technical engineering responsibilities with direct leadership and personnel management.\nPrimary Responsibilities\nLead and support the organizational needs of approximately 6-8 employees.\nReport personnel coverage, administrative matters, and other issues to the Branch Manager weekly or as required.\nCoordinate with organizations across the enterprise to identify and manage work assignments for section employees.\nSupervise employee performance and provide ongoing guidance, coaching, and feedback throughout the year.\nPrepare and conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports.\nPerform additional leadership responsibilities as directed by the Branch Manager and other division leaders.\nServe primarily in a technical engineering capacity (approximately 90%), with approximately 10% direct line-management responsibilities.\nDemonstrate strong direct line-management capabilities, which will be a primary selection criterion for this position.\nPractice servant leadership, making the needs, development, and success of employees a top priority.\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent discipline from an ABET-accredited university.\n8+ years of applicable experience in the design and/or analysis of mechanical systems; or 6+ years of applicable experience with a master’s degree.\nProficiency in one or more of the following: Structural analysis; Dynamics analysis; Thermal analysis; Fluids analysis.\nMust hold an active Secret-level security clearance to be considered for this role.\nMinimum of 1 year of employment with Leidos.\nMust currently be within, or be willing to transfer into, the Mechanical Design & Analysis Department.\nDemonstrated commitment to punctuality, integrity, and accountability.\nDemonstrated servant leadership, with a focus on supporting the needs and success of employees.\nAbility to take personal accountability while also holding employees accountable for their responsibilities and performance.\nDemonstrated leadership approach of praising employees publicly and providing corrective feedback privately.\nAbility and willingness to make commitments and consistently follow through on them.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience working within an engineering matrix organization.\nPrevious or current experience within the Mechanical Design & Analysis Department.\nIf you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
