Level of opportunity, including compensation, will be matched to a candidate's experience.***\nAs a Substation Designer, you will be part of an established Project Management Office (PMO) that provides consulting services to both public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities. These consulting services provide clients with overall project management tasks in the areas of comprehensive engineering design of electrical transmission and distribution, substation and transmission line projects nationwide.\nYour Main Objective:\nDevelop new, or modify existing: Electrical layout/plan of substation equipment and structures\nSubstation foundation layout/plan drawings\nSection/elevation views from layout/plan drawings\nConduit layout/plan drawings\nSubstation grounding layout/plan drawings\nControl building layout/plan and section/elevation drawings\n\nPrepare electrical schematics\nComplete electrical wiring design drawings\nDevelop a complete bill of materials for all required electrical equipment and materials.\nReview and comment on equipment drawings received from vendors and manufacturers.\nWork with other disciplines (e.g., Civil Engineers) as necessary to complete assigned work.\nAssist the project team with developing processes and procedures to increase team efficiency.\nPerform basic engineering calculations to support engineering design\nApply relevant client, national, and state standards to each assignment as needed.\nWhat Sets You Apart:\nAbility to develop substation physical drawings including schematics and wiring deliverables.\nAssociate's degree in a related field preferred. Additional experience will be considered in lieu of degree.\n1+ years of direct substation physical and electrical design experience using CAD software on electric utility industry projects.\nSolid comprehension and application of 2D and 3D design software such as MicroStation and AutoCAD, and Autodesk Inventor 3D w/ SDS.\nProficient with Windows-based software such as Word and Excel, which are frequently used to develop project deliverables.\nAbility to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.\nAdvanced ability to utilize 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.\nAbility to work in a team environment with others including, but not limited to, Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and drafters in multi-discipline groups.\nExperience working on EPC or other design-build Contract types\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nStrong attention to detail and work product quality.\nYou Might Also Have:\nAutoCAD and other 3D applications.\nAt Leidos, we pride ourselves on being a trusted and technology-focused solutions provider.
