Key responsibilities include leading design reviews, mentoring junior designers, collaborating with other disciplines, managing project timelines, and staying updated on relevant technologies to ensure the structural integrity and successful delivery of projects. Effective communication supported by a philosophy of continuous improvement and teamwork is required.\nPrimary Responsibilities:\nIdentify and resolve project issues by keeping an open line of communication between the internal project team and the client.\nInteract directly with clients to review and resolve technical project related issues without supervision.\nCollaborate with engineers/designers across disciplines and identify/resolve potential design issues to assure a complete, high-quality product.\nEnsures project deliverables for technical quality, accuracy and compliance with Company and Client standards.\nQA/QC site steel plans, sections, details along with corresponding BOMs prepared by direct reports.\nQA/QC foundation plans, sections, details along with corresponding BOMs.\nIdentifies and resolves design interferences.\nEnsure electrical assets can mount easily, coordinating vendor equipment mounting templates with Leidos’ steel design.\nEnsure engineering design details are properly represented for the development of “greenfield” (new) substations.\nPerform design due diligence as it relates to site expansion projects or brownfield work for within existing substations.\nMay provide additional support to our site-civil and physical design groups in laying out plans, sections, and details for substation projects.\nBasic required Qualifications:\nAA/2-year degree in Engineering Technology - CAD or related scientific/technical discipline. Experience may be considered in lieu of degree.\n5- 8 years of relevant experience in steel design. Additional direct relevant technical experience may be substituted for education.\nDemonstrated Understanding of design concepts associated with high voltage electrical substations\nProficient in Substation Power Delivery Software: Autodesk AutoCAD, Bentley MicroStation\nAdditional Preferred Qualifications:\n3D Modeling Using Autodesk Inventor\nCandidates must be located in the United States in order to be considered, as this role cannot be performed from outside of the US.
