Join us and make a difference in National Security!\nJob Summary\nA Senior Systems Engineer is needed to join a high performing agile team using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology. Candidates must possess a high level of in-depth expertise necessary to design and develop new capabilities for a complex system with exacting interface, performance, and security requirements. The selected individual will provide system engineering expertise in several of the following areas: architecture, design, development, requirements analysis, data flow, network design/implementation, testing, and documentation. She/he will analyze user requirements, system architecture, and system requirements specifications, provide systems engineering expertise, and develop system architecture and system design documentation. Responsibilities include supporting and providing guidance for system development and implementation planning through assessment of system engineering plans and system integration and test plans; supporting the development of system configuration documentation, including designs for capacity and performance planning; and performing engineering activities such as risk assessments and analyses of alternatives for a variety of system related issues and concerns. Responsibilities may also include helping to create test procedures and defining task success criteria.\nPrimary Roles and Responsibilities\nProvide guidance and support for system engineering of large-scale systems, major system elements, and interfacing systems that are part of a large complex network environment with geographically distributed components.\nProvide technical guidance and support for future system enhancements and design.\nUpdate System Engineering Documentation.\nProvide Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) or similar evaluation methodologies.\nInterface with Program Management, System and Software Integration Engineers, Test Engineers, Information Assurance Engineers, and other project team members in an Agile environment.\nDevelop and implement system engineering practices ensuring the proper degree of engineering rigor is applied to all assigned tasks.\nCommunicate with and effectively collaborate with internal technical professionals on a day-to-day basis, and with representatives from customer organizations when necessary.\nActively participate in program increment planning and related Agile team activities.\nProvide hands on technical assistance to engineering teams for data gathering and auditing purposes throughout multiple data centers.\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or a related field, and at least 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree and at least 10 years of relevant experience. Additional relevant work experience may be substituted for a degree.\nMust have in-depth experience in several of the following areas: system architecture, design and development, requirements analysis, data flow design/analysis, network design/implementation, testing, technical system documentation.\nMust have experience or strong familiarity with data centers and/or server rooms, to include the following: Rack based Servers, Network Switches, KVM's, Routers, Backup and Recovery devices, Firewalls, and security appliances.\nMust have at least 1-3 years of experience with infrastructure components (Servers, Switches, Firewalls, and other Enterprise Infrastructure hardware).\nMust have at least 5 years of experience working on system architecture design, building, and integration.\nMust have at least 5 years of experience working on large complex system architectures.\nMust have requirements verification traceability experience.\nMust have experience analyzing user requirements, system architecture, and/or system requirements specifications.\nMust have experience in discovery, research and analysis for hardware and software transitions.\nMust have experience gathering information related to the lifecycle of equipment and software.\nMust possess a solid understanding of secure systems engineering and development.\nMust be comfortable working on multiple systems and components simultaneously in various configurations.\nMust be able to effectively plan and prioritize tasking and communicate clearly regarding technical options and trade-offs.\nMust be capable of performing systems engineering activities in support of Agile teams on a large program.\nMust be committed to adopting, adhering to, and championing best practices.\nClearance Required: Must have TS/SCI with Polygraph.\nPreferred Qualifications\nIn-depth experience transitioning legacy systems to new architectures.\nExperience with model-based systems engineering.\nExperience with risk management/risk register.\nExperience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology or as a member of an Agile team.\nExperience working as an admin on Windows Server and Linux Server platforms.\nAt Leidos, the opportunities are boundless.
