LeoLabs is a space situational awareness company headquartered in Menlo Park, California, and founded in 2016 as a spin-off from SRI International. The company operates a global network of phased array radars that track satellites and debris in low Earth orbit, publishing conjunction warnings and orbit determination data. It sells to satellite operators, insurers, and defense agencies that need independent tracking of objects and manoeuvres above the atmosphere.

At LeoLabs, we’re building the living map of activity in space. Through our proprietary global radar network and AI-enabled analytics platform, we collect millions of measurements daily on more than 25,000 objects in low Earth orbit (LEO). Our radar-powered intelligence protects billions in assets, monitors adversarial behavior, and ensures safe operations for commercial and government missions.

We’re not just building technology, we are redefining global security, safety, and transparency in space. As orbital activity accelerates and threats grow more complex, LeoLabs is a trusted partner for Space Domain Awareness, Space Traffic Management, and Satellite Operations for top-tier space operators and allied defense organizations.

If you're looking to work on mission-critical challenges at the forefront of aerospace, national security, and AI, your impact starts here.

The Opportunity

At LeoLabs, the Hardware Engineering Team designs, builds, manufactures, and deploys advanced radar systems that provide persistent orbital intelligence to customers around the world.

As an Engineering Project Manager for Radar Hardware, you will drive execution across complex hardware development and production projects. You will work with mechanical engineering, RF and electrical engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and program leadership to turn project goals into clear schedules, deliverables, owners, and execution plans.

This is a hands-on project management role for someone who understands how hardware moves from requirements and design through procurement, build, test, deployment, and sustainment. You will help the Hardware Engineering Team stay aligned, surface risks early, and deliver radar hardware on schedule. This is a full-time, onsite position based in Menlo Park, California. Occasional travel may be required to support suppliers, integration, or field activities.

You will be responsible for:

  • Drive project execution for radar hardware design, manufacturing, integration, test, and deployment activities
  • Translate contract, program, and engineering needs into clear hardware milestones, deliverables, schedules, and owners
  • Develop and maintain integrated hardware project schedules across design release, procurement, manufacturing, test, and deployment
  • Track hardware deliverables, risks, dependencies, decisions, and action items across multiple active projects
  • Work with technical leads to assess level of effort, resource needs, schedule constraints, and execution priorities
  • Coordinate execution across Mechanical Engineering, RF & Electrical Engineering, and Manufacturing
  • Support design reviews, manufacturing readiness reviews, build readiness reviews, and major project checkpoints
  • Maintain project tracking workflows in tools such as Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, MS Project, or equivalent systems
  • Provide clear status reporting to hardware leadership on schedule health, risks, staffing needs, and execution gaps
  • Help improve the team’s project planning, meeting cadence, documentation, and follow-through

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 7+ years of experience managing technical projects in hardware, aerospace, defense, robotics, industrial systems, or other complex engineering environments
  • Experience driving hardware projects through design, procurement, build, test, and delivery
  • Strong understanding of hardware development lifecycles, including requirements, design reviews, release processes, manufacturing readiness, integration, and verification
  • Proven ability to manage schedules, risks, dependencies, and deliverables across multiple engineering disciplines
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to drive clarity across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working with engineering teams, manufacturing teams, supply chain, suppliers, and program leadership
  • Experience with project tracking tools such as Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, MS Project, or equivalent systems
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. personnel security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting radar, aerospace, defense, satellite, RF, communications, or other mission-critical hardware projects
  • Experience supporting U.S. Government, DoD, Intelligence Community, or Space Force efforts
  • Familiarity with contract deliverables, requirements tracking, and government-facing project execution
  • Familiarity with hardware manufacturing, contract manufacturers, production builds, and supplier-driven schedules
  • Experience with Arena, NetSuite, Altium, or other hardware development and production systems
  • Active U.S. Secret or Top Secret personnel security clearance
  • PMP, technical project management certification, or equivalent practical experience

Within 1 month, you’ll:

  • Complete onboarding and become familiar with LeoLabs’ radar hardware, active projects, team structure, and development process
  • Build an understanding of current hardware schedules, deliverables, risks, and ownership
  • Begin supporting project execution rhythms, action tracking, and leadership reporting

Within 3 months, you’ll:

  • Own integrated project schedules for one or more active radar hardware efforts
  • Establish clear tracking for hardware milestones, deliverables, risks, dependencies, and decisions
  • Work with technical leads to improve schedule realism, ownership clarity, and cross-functional execution

Within 6 months, you’ll:

  • Drive project execution across multiple hardware development and manufacturing efforts
  • Lead regular hardware project reviews that surface risks early and keep teams aligned
  • Provide hardware leadership with clear visibility into schedule health, staffing needs, and execution gaps

Within 12 months, you’ll:

  • Establish a scalable project execution model for Radar Hardware
  • Improve how the team plans, tracks, and delivers complex hardware across multiple active efforts
  • Help LeoLabs deliver advanced radar systems with better schedule predictability, cross-functional alignment, and execution discipline
