Job Description:

Join Our Training Academy

We may now operate as one integrated team, but our success depends on dedicated Avionics Specialists and Mechanical Specialists. This role sits firmly within the Avionics discipline and plays a vital part in delivering high-quality technical training to customers and colleagues.

If you have strong avionics knowledge, professional credibility, and a passion for developing others, this is an opportunity to influence how advanced helicopter systems are understood and operated across the global fleet.

For the awareness of internal candidates, this is a JFF level 5 position.

Your Impact

As an Avionics Instructor, you will shape the next generation of technicians and operators. You will deliver engaging training, act as a Subject Matter Expert for allocated systems, and ensure all training aligns with customer requirements, engineering data, and operational necessity.

What you will do as an Avionics Instructor:

  • Develop technical training content by producing clear, accurate, and effective training materials based on engineering documentation and system data.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction to provide engaging classroom and practical training to varied audiences in the UK and occasionally overseas.
  • Act as an Avionics SME representing the avionics discipline, ensuring technical accuracy and supporting training assurance.
  • Collaborate with Synthetic Learning & Simulation Services (SL&SS) teams.
  • Maintain compliance by ensuring all training meets safety, regulatory, and organisational standards.
  • Enhance student assessments support when developing and improving assessment methods and evaluation tools.

What you’ll bring

Essential Requirements

  • Solid understanding of avionic systems, including principles of operation and system integration.
  • Experience in aviation, aerospace, or a related technical field, ensuring credibility and the depth of knowledge required for developing course material and explaining complex concepts.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify and clearly explain technical information.
  • Professional, positive attitude, with a willingness to learn and collaborate.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Instructor Qualifications such as Defence Train the Trainer (DTTT), Award or Certificate in Education and Training (AET or CET), or equivalent. Training can be provided if not currently held.
  • Familiarity with digital learning tools and training technologies (training provided).

This is not an exhaustive list, and we are keen to hear from you even if you might not have experience in all the above. The most important skill is a good attitude and willingness to learn.

Security Clearance

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
