Flexible and hybrid working options may be available where compatible with the needs of the role.\nLeonardo UK is seeking an Electronic Engineer to join the Cyber & Security Solutions Division team. This role is focused on supporting the design and development of NIGHTSHADE, the next generation of modular secure infrastructure.\nWhat you will do as an Electronic Engineer\nContribute to the design of small-power electrical systems, including external generators, battery-management systems and electromagnetic or TEMPEST filtering arrangements. \nSupport the design of local area data networks and their integration with customer ICT solutions. \nDevelop and use network and component models and simulations, with a focus on electrical, thermal and transient behaviours. \nWork closely with mechanical, systems, manufacturing and other engineering colleagues to design and integrate system components. \nDevelop and maintain system, subsystem and component requirements, supporting clear traceability through the engineering lifecycle. \nSpecify and support system verification and validation activities using agreed methods and evidence. \nContribute to equipment and system qualification and certification activities. \nProduce and maintain engineering documentation, including specifications, design information, calculations, models and technical evidence. \nIdentify technical issues and risks within your area of work, resolving routine problems independently and escalating more complex matters with clear evidence and recommendations. \nContribute to design reviews, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the NIGHTSHADE team.\nWhat you’ll bring\nWe are looking for an Electronic, Electrical or Systems Engineer with a strong engineering foundation and the ability to apply a structured, pragmatic approach to technical problems. You will be comfortable working independently on defined activities while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team.\nA degree, degree apprenticeship or equivalent experience in electronic, electrical, systems or a closely related engineering discipline. \nAn understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, including power distribution, protection, battery technologies and electrical safety. \nThe ability to produce or interpret electrical designs, schematics, calculations, models and technical specifications. \nAn understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements definition, decomposition, traceability, verification and validation. \nExperience, knowledge or an academic background in modelling and simulation of electrical, thermal or transient behaviours. \nAn understanding of data-networking principles and the integration of ICT components within a wider engineered system. \nThe ability to analyse technical information, identify issues and contribute to evidence-based design decisions. \nExperience working collaboratively across engineering disciplines to support component and system integration. \nA willingness to develop specialist knowledge and work towards greater technical independence and professional recognition. \nCore Areas (must have):\nRelevant engineering qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience.\nSound understanding of electronic or electrical engineering principles.\nAbility to work from defined requirements and contribute to detailed designs and technical documentation.\nStructured problem-solving capability and the ability to communicate technical findings clearly.\nAbility to work effectively within a multidisciplinary design, manufacturing and support environment.\nDesirable:\nExperience with low-voltage power distribution, generators, battery-management systems or electrical protection. \nKnowledge of local area networks, secure ICT integration or network modelling. \nExperience using engineering modelling, simulation, CAD or requirements-management tools. \nKnowledge of electromagnetic compatibility, TEMPEST considerations or filtering techniques. \nExperience supporting verification, validation, qualification or certification activities. \nExperience in defence, secure infrastructure, manufacturing or another regulated engineering environment. \nThis is not an exhaustive list, and we are keen to hear from you even if you might not have experience in all the above.
